Not being American myself, I have never celebrated "Thanksgiving day" however, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't do so in the privacy of your own home...
This is just sooo late. Here in my town, on the day after Halloween, they already had a big Xmas tree next to the station and a choir was singing Xmas carols. Sent a photo to my folks back home. Their first reaction was, WTF?
The photo is pretty. There was a Christmas tree looming over the Halloween decorations at Universal Studios Japan last month. I told the wife it made me really feel like I was back in the States. I'd be in favor of sticking Guy Fawkes Night between Halloween and Christmas, especially if it holds off the Christmas decorations a little bit longer. I love the holidays but I just try to ignore Christmas until the day after US Thanksgiving or even until December 1.
A holiday that has long since become an orgy of mindless overconsumption and which "officially" kicks off on a day known as "Black Friday" should be re-branded "RetailFest", or worse.
Even in NYC Rockefeller center waits until December. Sheesh. And just why can't we celebrate thanksgiving in Japan. Must we give up all our traditions to be here?
It's only November 5 and they are already bracing for Christmas. We are going to have to endure Christmas songs blaring everywhere until December 25. Can we just have a quite Christmas for once?

Yubaru:
What is Christmas? This is Japan, the land of Shinto and Buddhism.

Ignore the cynics, Roppongi is fun, even more so with a bit of 「イルミネーション」.

Only in America. And America is not the world.

Roppongi Hills in Tokyo is lit up to open our pocketbooks. Nothing else to see, folks.

Way too early for me, but for those who like it, enjoy.

And to think all the Solar farms in Sai'tama are contributing to lighting up Tokyo for the Japanese Christmas

Can we keep quiet about Guy Fawkes' night? Please. I don't want my childhood memories ruined by ignorant Japanese commercialism.

They really do Keyakizaka and Sakurazaka nicely this time of year.

It's beginning to sell a lot like Christmas - everywhere you go!

Do people not realize that starting things too early takes away from the "specialness" of the Christmas season? You just have to shake your head...

Not in the UK they wouldn't be....

Wow. Japan is coming around finally. A big Halloween bash and now a Christmas season getting underway.

Not one week and then jumping to the next commercial exploit.
