Every eight years!?!? That sounds like me!

Wow, he schools Abe on the lessons of WW2 and then goes out for a jog with the peps. What a guy!

Yes, after is anti-rightist remarks, I'm a fan now too. And after the Emperor's anti-rightist remarks, I'm his fan too. I never paid much attention to the Imperial Family until now. Like most people in my generation (mid 30s).

I love the fact that he goes running about once every eight years. He is no different than the rest of us!

I'm guessing the "officials" are in the white gloves and he body guards are in the black gloves :)

That is a cute picture!

If I were him, I'd be getting myself a bigger bodyguard than that little guy in the left!

I'm pretty sure all these weak Japanese bodyguards would be toast, were they to be matched up against some of JT's expert fighters.

Um, no thanks. The "s" after "bodyguard" makes it even less attractive.

I kind of like Prince Naruhito in any case.

I wonder if he does anything else to stay fit. After having a look...

His Imperial Highness is a sportsman and music lover, being an avid tennis player and also enjoying mountaineering and jogging.

Come to think of it, I do recall seeing footage of him playing tennis and hiking on TV. I think his parents are really "into" tennis too.

By the way,

put a smile on my face.

bodyguards and unidentified officials

Which is which, right?

But as for size, I'd be very careful drawing conclusions.

Why didin't he invite Prince William to join the royal jogging party?

Dunno, but better him than his dipstick brother.

Did he make it up the hill and back down for a full 5km? If you live in the place I am sure it's tempting to take a short cut through the middle if it's you first run in 8 years.

Speak for yourself...i'm still recovering from those forced mile-long runs in middle school. nevar again.

Limbering up for a succession?

Inspired by the Tokyo Marathon maybe? Drawing a lot of attention to himself though! If he put a pair of sunglasses or even a mask on, no one would know who he was!

Shouldn't two bodyguards be running in front of t he crown prince to stop someone from coming at him from the front?

The photo looks like he is about to run over a cliff.......

If I were him, I'd be getting myself a bigger bodyguard than that little guy in the left! LOL if a sumo sized mugger decided to rush the prince, i doubt any of his tiny bodyguards would stop him no matter how good at martial arts / Judo he is.

Do you actually believe that ANYBODY could become a Prince's bodyguard?

I would be seriously concerned if I were to see you trying to have a go at my Sensei; he's only about 5'1" and looks just like a frail, old English trump (no joke).

I'm just saying, there are plenty of really big, scary looking martial arts experts. Give me one of those.

Log onto YouTube and type "Kennedy's bodyguard humiliated in Japan".

Sit back and enjoy.

As a taxpayer, all I see is wasted money on a system that has no business being supported or funded with my money and I'm sure there are many out there who feel the same. I would rather see that money spent on the royals go to the poor and needy in Japan.
