How very rude of the mayor not to look at the princess while she is talking to him. He looks as stiff as a board. Must be nervous.

Look at that clown "uniform". orange and blue? couldn't be any more ridiculous. LOL

"You see... I backhand him if he gets out of line."

Very funny comments, people. Ha ha ha - "backhand"! Meanwhile, notice the devastated infrastructure. Nature has done backhanded Iwanuma, and it'll take a generation to recover.

So nice of her to make a public appearance.

It always amazes me how people can make such sweeping statements based on a photo taken at maybe 1/250th of a second. Like Kan "sleeping". And let's forget that in the not-so-distant past, looking at one's superior was considered rude.

I agree with borscht. And indeed I believe the mayor is acting properly. It is still not considered polite to stare at a superior.
I think it was nice of the prince and princess to visit. I do not go in for silly adulation of royals, or swooning at royal weddings, but why denigrate. And the mayor's uniform is no so bad.

The mayor looks as if he is wearing his gundam battle suit...

Well done that couple. For me it just wonderful to see these two out and about. This should happen more often. These two bring strength and calm to the those affected by these disastrous events.

To everyone getting their panties in a bunch over the mayor being "rude" and "disrespectful", you've been in Japan too long. Would you rather see him kneeling at the divine royal's feet? Seems rather arcahic of people to get butt hurt over not showing proper respect to some figurehead.

Let's not forget what recently happened there either. If someone was chastising me for not showing proper resepct to the royals shortly after I lost almost everything in a tsunami I would tell them to get bent.
