Why is nobody else covering this? This is the first time I knew he was here.

And I hope the Royal Household concentrates on Abdullah and ignores Duteurte (sp??).

Funny. His brother, Ali, was my classmate in 3rd grade elementary school. We were best friends. Its surreal for me to see his brother like this. I never met neither King Hussein nor King Abdullah unfortunately

That soldier on the left... Ooh, you are awful; but I like you!
Wakarimasen
Why isn't he wearing traditional Saudi garb? Aly, you move in exalted circles.....
Strangerland
Probably for the same reason you aren't - he's not Saudi.

He sometimes wears Arabic headdress and sometimes doesn't, apparently. He's half-English, on his mom's side. But his dad King Hussein also went with and without headdress. And I don't remember seeing any photos of the older Saudi royal males without headdress. I think the Jordanian royalty may be less traditional. Where there any Europeans in the direct line of descent, with the Saudis?

turbotsat, Wakarimasen, maybe because he is the King of Jordan and is not from Saudi Arabia.

I think maybe Wakarimasen only meant something like 'why isn't the King wearing traditional Arab dress', it was Strangerland who parsed that to Saudi vs. Jordanian.
In USA "in 80's" I don't remember any guys wearing keffiyeh, except fashion models on runway, maybe, but I probably wasn't paying attention.
Why did young Japanese wear it with camouflage in 2000's? Red Army Faction nostalgia? P/O their parents?

What? The man in the pic is Jordan's king. The question was Why isn't he wearing traditional Saudi garb?. I didn't 'parse' it to anything other than what the question directly asked.
turbotsat
OK, you are right. But given that you know Wakarimasen is not Saudi and we can take it he/she is not Jordanian (because if so it's highly probable he/she would know the King wears both styles of dress and not one style like Saudi royalty tend to and wouldn't have asked the question), he/she probably did not mean 'Saudi dress' but 'Arab traditional dress'.
Strangerland
Maybe. But I don't assume. Maybe I just don't know something specific about Saudi-Jordanian relations, and he was trying to make some political statement about them.

Looking at its posts, mostly one-liners, I suspect it's a bot, perhaps come alive after years of monitoring and controlling the systems of whatever city it resides at, or maybe a rogue chatbot escaped from the lab (maybe even Alice!), and political statements such as you ascribe to it are beyond its level of subtlety.

Can't we have a little less of the military photos?
Surely there are beautiful things to look at!

; He wears a suit, the same reason Abe wear a suit. We don't see Japanese gov't officials sear kimonos in oversea and not even in Japan.
