Best gateaux chocolat in Hokkaido is 30 seconds from this tree. At the bakery on the northwest corner of this atrium.

Xmas decorations should be on display from Nov 30 - Jan 2. Now is too early to put them up and Dec 25 is too soon to take them down.

Sapporo is a great city

According to who?

According to mrsynik. According to me, they shouldn't be taken down until Twelfth Night.
That's a pretty-looking tree, but it shouldn't be up yet and blue isn't a Christmas colour. Red, green and gold, please. With white snow.

And all this complaining about people in Tohoku having no power and no place to live. Nice to see the priorities are not for those who have given up their lives.

In the Japanese tradition, such as it is, it should be up now, and blue is a Christmas color. And the holiday is over after you've eaten your KFC on Christmas Eve.
Different European countries have different Christmas traditions, which we respect. Shouldn't we do the same for our Japanese friends?

John Becker, you're saying the only valid comment on this photo would be 'Oh how pretty?'? If I respect the traditional Christmas customs of my Japanese friends (never thought I'd write that phrase!), does that mean I'm committing a faux pas when I offer them mince pies and mulled wine on Christmas Day?
