one blow of stiff wind and they would come apart like a cheap suit

They look great!

Got really bad reviews in States. Definitely a "chic flik". Believe it or not, the audience in the U.S. was 90% women! Evidently, very few women could convince their boyfriends or husbands to attend. Don't know how this translates in Japan.

@paulinusa, and the 10% were gay?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

4 good reasons to stay in Japan where the girls are actually pretty...gosh this is the best they can do for that movie????

no thanks

bisoy: Don't know their sexual persuasion or if they enjoyed it. meloveulongtime: Their age: Catrell-53, Davis-45, Nixon-44, Parker-45.

Sorry guys, ladies don't give a rat's behind what you think...they LOVE SATC and think these ladies are the best thing since sliced bread. Movie did get rather horrid reviews in the US though. Japan however only cares about the 'lifestyle' and clothes. Will make a ton of money here.

the one on the left is married to a lady

@ Canukle, Maria : ;^) Mmm Hmm... The rest of you naysaybobs can take a hike. Hurray for the girls and SATC 2!

I don't know why, but I don't think these actors and their characters are sexy. Far from it. Looking at this picture what I see is four 2010 women: expensively dressed, but also blandly. Successful, somehow empty inside. And as NYers, extremely neurotic. Not my kind.

Mutton

Got more going on than you negative purveyors.

Being from NY I used to watch the show to remember why I moved to Japan, and it never failed to remind me.

Canukle -- spot on. An ex of mine called me last night about 10:00 all kiddy because she had gotten close to SJP. And this is a successful, career-woman, not some young air-head. Let's be honest, women here by and large cannot really relate to these four, since three are relatively successful professionals (journalist, PR lady and lawyer), and especially since they are powerful in a sexual sense, and do not have to be subservient to men. But, they envy the lifestyle and all the shopping, dining, traveling, and clothes. And, yes, I expect my current gal to drag me to see it this weekend, so I'll be in the 10% minority. But, that's fine by me. For the first one, women here in Japan dressed to the nines to go see it, so there was some amazing eye-candy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They do nothing for me. The average girl from Shibuya is better.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Typical, the Lesbian is the hottest.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I walked past this and it was chaos. Lots of girls dressed to the nines to see their heroines. Most of the fans looked way better than the stars. The movie itself is apparently dross, but the main themes of daft sex and lots of consumerism will play well in Japan. My females friends all love SATC.

I find these characters to be a neurotic, self centered, materialist and shallow. Just what the OL population in Japan loves.

But if you compare these characters to real American women I know, they are hardly representative of anything other than a rare elite class of people one would rather avoid than associate with.

Let's face it, the real interesting modern women are far more engaging. They are career women with families and strong social values. They are activists and volunteers who help out in the community. They are artists, teachers, shop owners and more.

The real idol American women don't live or die on the attention of some rich guy. They don't need Prada or any other brand bag. And they are too interlligent and selfempowered to need a band of three compatriots to validate their existence.

This film, the TV show that started it and the legions of wannabe OLs who are stuck in their little Cinderella universe are sad examples of a society that is materialistic shallow and aging ungracefully.

SATC is harmless escapist fantasy.

I don't know why some people think Sarah Jessica Parker is attractive. I think she is the opposite, she has a very "hard" and "worn out" face. But I guess "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", although in this case the beholders must be blind and stupid!!!!

"I don't know why some people think Sarah Jessica Parker is attractive."

In the immortal words of Peter Griffin from Family Guy "Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse." Sorry, but he does have something going with that thought.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Kristin Davis looks nice. I'd date her :-)

As for the others, I have to a) clean my room, b) wash my hair and c) go shopping. Maybe next year? Then again, maybe not...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They have only sexy minds, not sexy bodies, and the nasty things they are thinking of doing, are what the girls in Japan need to know!

When I first watched SATC series, I didn't like it at all. Thought the characters were immoral and so unrefined. But as time goes by and I had no other English series to watch on my tv except this one, I began to observe the characters a bit more seriously and reliased that there're lots of truth to be learnt and pondered about. The characters may be mean to some male chauvinists but I think they help many women deal with life, outside of their professional image. They just don't tell men about it.

And in Japan, the J women certainly are already doing it secretly behind their men's back....just than some men are too naive to understand it..lol.

Everytime I see a preview for this movie, it makes me sick. I mean, who rides through the Sahara in Channel, really. I don't think Sarah Jessica Parker is that attractive either. She just looks like she's been dieting too hard for too long. She kind of looks like a horse to me, and according to this website, I'm not the only one: http://sarahjessicaparkerlookslikeahorse.com/

She just looks like she's been dieting too hard for too long.

She's coming down with a case of "hatchet face". Ladies in their 40's with real low body fat levels get it most common. Yep, it looks awful!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The picture of these four women brings to mind the expression, "Mutton dressed as lamb".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe it wiill inspire them to write a book about their follies and adventures. SATC2 NIGHT !!!! YEAH!!!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not interested in any of them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Kristin looking sweet as usual - too bad she didn't go to Heartland after

0 ( +0 / -0 )

obasan matsuri!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Surprised not to see a Japanese 'tarento' hanging around with them, as usually happens.

Guess Mona Yamamoto and Aya Sugimoto must have both been busy last night!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They are so old looking weird ladies. It is a shame that because millions of incapable and unconfident women tried to immitate them these actors polluting the red carpet with their naive acting performances.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No thanks... do the japanese thing and switch them out with younger people

0 ( +0 / -0 )

so did they go shopping in Sugamo?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Remember the line from South Park:

Matthew Broderick: "My wife is a beautiful woman and I know most people would agree with me."

Interviewer: "How come a transvestite donkey witch is standing next to you, and why is it wearing a dress?"

I liked the girls at the Iron Man 2 premiere a lot more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

i didnt like satc2, but... you might like them or dont, in any case they look good // great for their age. i prefer lipstick jungle, much better imho

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How come these hags wont just go away and leave us in peace? They couldn't find anyone else to represent the "lifestyle"?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is the 2nd picture of them this week. Will there be one more as they board the plane and depart?

Kristin Davis looks great, though these women kind of blend in with all the beauty standing behind them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SJP looks like Michael Boulton in drag.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As a mature woman, Kim is looking sexier as she ages.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

so did they go shopping in Sugamo?

hahaha nice one!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wait wait wait ... you're comparing these women in their 40s and 50s to the 20-year-olds in Shibuya? Seriously? Says more about you than them.

They look pretty good, considering their ages. And no, I'm not fond of SJP's face, but I always think she looks far better in motion than in still photos. Plus, I bet they would be far more interesting to talk to than the average Shibuya gal.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I realize they're all in pretty good shape for "women of a certain age," and that we're all spoiled by the drop-dead gorgeous Asian beauties that crowd the subways, but these broads are toxic has-beens and the only one that was hot at the start of the show was Kristen Davis, and that was about 15 years ago.

The show was irritating from the get-go -- in the first episode I saw, characters talked to the camera about how they had VDs or infections, just to gross us out. The characterizations were as ludicrous as a comic book's -- and yet people applaud it because it's a female-driven show. All that means is that women can produce embarrassing content just as shamelessly as men can, and that's not a triumph.

It's almost as low as reality TV.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Tell me again why this is newsworthy? Yawns! BORING! Four Obasans photographed wearing things I would not be caught dead in. This looks like an ad for anti constipation or menstrual symptoms drugs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think they look great. No need to compare them to Japanese women as I have never seen one their age look so good!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not again, please, what have we done to deserve such cruel treatment?

They may have to watch themselves ageing everyday in the mirror but is that any reason why we must be forced to go through the horror with them?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Lassie looks ok. The rest need to just go away and spare us.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually I came to Japan to get away from this American TV crap.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

To me Parker looks real scary, she reminds me of a skeletal Mexican puppet....Very scary, and I am glad that this movie is not doing too well...
