Saw this on the news a few days ago. I sure hope it doesn't malfunction and suddenly becomes transparent while sitting on the loo.

Weird..very weird.

Would be awkward if the lock mechanism malfunctioned in the middle of the deed.

Bet you a lot of exhibitionists will conveniently “forget” to lock the door when using the facilities.

they don't turn opaque. if they did, they would appear black. you can see light from inside the locked right one, along with vague outlines of fixtures inside. they turn translucent.

Nah. I tried one. Is pretty awesome. Is only see through if you don't lock the door. The glass are actually opaque. Meaning you can't see anything from outside or from inside once you lock the door. They also kept it pretty clean too.

I too was there 2 days ago checking our both parks. Pretty cool actually. No one there for such hype on these toilets. Would of been better to see them inside Yoyogi instead. Still pretty cool though. https://youtu.be/wIgNHlhLQXM

Yeah... I prefer to look at other things on you tube but have at it.

Ha! Good one.
"Captain, opacity is failing!"

Can still see what is inside the one on the right!
What a daft idea!

Enough about the see-through toilettes already. Japan comes up with the oddest distractions.

Perhaps they are trying to combat "dual occupant use" situations? That's an issue at rest areas in other countries. Rather than get a motel, people just head to the toilets at rest areas for a little private-stranger-action - the sort that children don't need to see.

Walls of glass in a toilet, difficult to keep clean and will show everything inside when not in use. Looking a toilets and sinks not the nicest thing in a park. There must be other (security?) motives for this unless it is just a design stunt to draw attention or sponsored by the glass supplier. The technology is not particularly new

What about checking the actual video (YouTube)?
That would prevent u writing something daft.

do they have washlets?
YeahRight
Once again, Japan has shown its superiority in toilet technology. Now if they could just get rid of faxes, hankos, and other 19th, 20th century "technology" and bring everything into the 21st century.

According to the creators the aims are:
You can see they're clean, prior to entering; That they're vacant; To stave off potential attacks on women, by some bad character hiding in wait inside the bog.Just bring these things to London; they'll become an homeless's paradise in no time.
