Send-off

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) sailors form words that read "THX GWA" on the deck of Japan's biggest warship, Izumo, as it sails to send off the USS George Washington, near Boso Peninsula, east of Tokyo, on Monday. The USS George Washington (CVN73), which has been forward deployed to Yokosuka as part of the U.S. Seventh Fleet since 2008, left Japan for the final time on Monday. It will be replaced by the USS Ronald Reagan in late summer, according to U.S. and Japanese officials.

I think that's a nice send-off. I hope for continued maritime cooperation between our nations.

Japan will never repeat their mistakes in WWII. They may be allowed to have a military but that military is still under heavy regulations, not to mention the vast majority of Japanese do not want to be involved in armed conflicts. I do have to say though that the Japanese must teach their kids about what they did during WWII. They may be peaceful but peace is no good when you blatantly are ignoring the pleas of your two biggest neighbors; China and Korea. Also, they are very much aware how badly they lost the war. They no longer have that sense of immortality that allowed them to start wars so easily. I'm glad to see that the Japanese Navy is keeping with the times and using texter lingo, it's very nice ^_^

What a load. Both China and SKorea use WWII as a political tool. South Korea accepted Japan's apology and money in 1965 and even CHina did the same in 1972. Comminist China wasn't even an allied power in WWII, Nationalist China was now on Taiwan. And Even Taiwan doesn't make WWII a tool for whipping Japan perpetually. The SKoreans are deceiful in that thery were part of Imperial Japan and foughtthe allies. And China today is considered the biggest threat to all of Asia. Those "pleas" are hollow amd used by China as a cover and excuse for theor ayions today. The most vicious fighting in the pacific occured between the United States and Japan, amd take a look at the photo.

AADV123, you do know that Japan has the world's second-largest navy, right?

Impressive, fingers crossed Japan’s biggest warship, Izumo is never deployed in anger.
