No, nemo actually thinks brown and white rice are different varieties of rice. You're not a very plausible racist.

Are they aspiring to be professional riciscts?

tanorexic!

I am in the food business and i can tell you that Japanese rice is way beyond other countries' rice in terms of quality. Even in Japan there are dozens of levels of quality and varios methods of production that increase costs.

"Brown Rice" or genmai is just the unpolished rice. It is more nutritious by far but i prefer polished rice.

Basmati rice from India and Jasmine Rice from Thailand are also good, but completely different taste and aroma.

These girls need to be given an award or something. Perhaps they are already on some government's payroll. Still, it's a noble effort.

I think it is a great initiative. I really wish her the best. A young woman with initiative is not something very common around here...

From my european taste, Jrice is trully the best. Next is Thai...

Cleo - Thanks.

Sarge, if you buy your rice from the local JA, brown rice is cheaper - they charge for polishing it. Still ridiculously expensive, but not because it's brown.

Genmai flakes is the only rice I eat. White rice is, as Nemo said, empty carbs, and a bag of brown rice is ridiculously expensive.

Japanese rice is NOT the best. It is a load of empty carbs compared with decent brown rice.

Japanese brown rice is somehow indecent? (apart from the price, of course)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She's really cute! I'm gonna go out and buy more Japanese rice. yeehah!

work in the rice-growing industry.

Are they going to China?

When I say, "No-gyaru" I'm not referring to farms, although some gyarus are so beastly they should be on one, I'm asking them to go away.

There's no way in hell these girls on working on a farm like that.

I hope they won't go to rice farm with these clothes and long painted nails....

I love Japanese rice but after trying basmati rice of India recently I discover a very different rice. It is so soft, just like flour and melts inside your mouth!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is she promoting edible rice or strictly for industrial use (?)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Japanese rice is the best. There are others that are ok, BUT Jrice is THE BEST.

I have spent considerable amount of time looking for a comprehensive way to establish more food self sufficiency for Japan. It is important for Japan to compete agriculturally, thus stronger trade agreements in the region, and stable transfer of goods and technology in the region. Example would be the trade agreement w/ Mexico - agriculture was a major stumbling block, but if both parties trade in agriculture strongly, and not defensively, the relationship strengthens.

Obviously, I really like Shiho Fujita, for what she is promoting.

I tend to think the Japanese prediliction towards eating their own rice will see cultivation of rice continue unabated.

Well it is true that almost all Japanese I meet thinks that Japanese rice is the best in the world. Years of govt. propaganda seem to have worked. I would like to see a double blind taste test. I would guarantee that they can't tell the difference.

However, say the demand doesn't fall (Japanese like their own rice) but the number of farmers/farms does (the kids don't want to be farmers), then all that will happen is that the price will go up. It already is way too high. My suggestion? Import rice and save money.

Our love affair with rice/fruits ,can't be held back.

Quoted for truth.

"That one girl needs to put some pants on"

She does not.

The gal on the right is wearing my grandfather's hat!

I don't think these girls would last one day on a rice farm. I get annoyed when these organisations promote Japanese farms and rice. The Japanese rice farm will soon be extinct because the kids don't want to work on a farm. And that won't be a bad thing, cheaper rice is available from other countries. And before someone brings up food self-sufficiency; Japan isn't and will never be 100% sef sufficient. So why bother with anything less. Unless they embark on another war of aggression, food will always be available form outside.

I like the farmer looking hat and attire. Pretty interesting if bending over and weeding.

Getting people from city to grow rice, how about grow fruits also.

Our love affair with rice/fruits ,can't be held back.

Can't see from this picture whether they're wearing pants or not, but I expect they are, given the shortness of their skirts.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That one girl needs to put some pants on. Isn't she chilly at all? But it's cool what they're doing.

Shihi Fujita seems like a smart idol. Now this is the type of work idols should be doing rather than wasting airtime on TV and looking like fools on some magazine! I am for anyone who helps the farmers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Model? doesn't look like one.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

maybe they can help out at my hatake, still some weeding needs to be done, I can pay them with satsumaimo haha

0 ( +0 / -0 )

why the rice they distribute is in bottles? Has it already turned into sake?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Kome? U-ke-ru!

I bet the only rice in most gyarus' diet is from Saizeriya's Milano-fuu Doria (290 yen)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

give me a farm girl anyday. at least they are good for more than one thing

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And a model? For what? The only thing missing from the model's attire is a ring through the nose.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Farm girls want to go to Tokyo and see the bright lights. No wonder these types of campaigns would hatch & spring to life ;)
