100% of the snow used for competition is man-made,
Which is harder & more slippery than natural snow.
Reinforces the strange decision to award these games to China
Richard Gallagher
tooheysnew: Exactly!
Artificial snow tends to be a lot more dense, icier, harder, more like concrete once it's formed on the ground; whereas natural snow is powdery, lighter and fluffier. Artificial snow is four times harder than natural snow.
Man-made snow is made by snowmaking machines pumping water droplets at high speed through a condenser, rather than naturally falling from the sky. Natural snow has a complex crystalline structure whereas snow from snow-machines is simply frozen fragments.
Many of the competing skiers & snowboarders find the Chinese Olympic runs, which are all man-made snow, difficult.

Ouch! falling like that is going to hurt.

Doesn't surprise me everything in China is man made an and made from what ever they think works. What ever happened to pure white snow. The snow looks as if it has manufactured dong in it. Who knows? You never know what you are going to get from the Chinese because they never tell the truth.
