I believe the term "pocket-size" is being used just a little too loosely in this case. Either that or these chicks have to get themselves some bigger pockets. Or in the case of the chick on the right...a bigger a$$.

After a couple of days scrolling and moving the window around on an Asus PC (ePC) to access menus, files, etc., my eyes and wrists were tired, and my headached. They just do not work.

Agreed, Sony, over the last 10 years, has become the British Leyland of the Hi Tech world. I really go out of my way to avoid buying any of their products which all seem to have a magical life of 2 years before they start messing up.

Now Toshiba is a different game altogether....

The advert is as silly as the slogan. Pocket sized? Really? I suppose a third of it is in the pocket. If 7" is that tight I can only imagine how tight 9" would be.

I can’t wait for Sony to belly up and close its doors for good. Engineers I know that works for Sony are so prideful and back their products to be the ultimate best. Although, when I share with them my experiences on my products I bought and having it not last even two years, they are very shocked and cannot believe. I can go on with TV’s, HD Camcorder, etc. I refuse to own another Sony product and never will. Thanks Sony for nothing. Good luck with your pocket sized go-mi.

Hmmmm, that looks very much like my old NEC Mobilepro. Yup, it's about the same size. Ran Windows CE and battery lasted forever it seemed. Had some limitations but I got mine used for $300 bucks. Still have and might still use it. Sony ..... er $1000??? I'll stick to my netbooks if I need one. Nice try...100% of market indeed!

Guys, you can bash Sony as much as you want but you must be honest and not forget that Sony was a precursor on UMPCs years ago already with the PCG series and U series.

I have a PCG-U1 from year 2002 and it's still working. Some people even install Linux on those machines.

It's good to see Sony back with this kind of products.

But I have to admit that the PR photo is ridiculous.

In the U.K. these type of mini computers are known as 'netbooks.' They are aimed at women buyers to fit easily into handbags. They will be going on sale next month for around 99 pounds (approx 14,000 yen) at 'Next' stores in Britain, and are being produced by a company called Elonex.

Buttamini, netbooks aren't as functionnal as real computers such as the Sony pictured above. Look at the respective specs and you'll see the difference.

Majimekun, I wasn't really comparing the functionality of both computers. I was pointing out that that they really don't fit into pockets as suggested by the Sony ladies in the picture, but are more suitable for handbags. To say they are pocket-size is misleading. Also, Sony's so-called 'pocket-size' computer will be on sale for around 100,000 yen, which is over five times the price of the Elonex 'netbook' mini computer and is the same size as Sony's. Netbook can carry out basic functions of an ordinary computer, which is probably all most people would need for such a product.
