Sparkle With Joy

Children from Tokyo International School school pose with Grand Hyatt Tokyo staff in the hotel lobby Tuesday after decorating trees with ornaments made from recycled wine and champagne corks. The display is part of the hotel’s “Sparkle With Joy” charity program, featuring various activities designed to support people with disabilities as well as children in regions such as Tohoku, Kumamoto and Hokkaido, which were hit by devastating earthquakes and a tsunami, via Kids Earth Fund (KEF). The hotel works with ReKikou, a nonprofit organization that recycles wine and champagne corks into new products, helping generate employment and support independence for people with disabilities. This year, in addition to the cork ornaments, in commemoration of the hotel’s 15th anniversary, eight tiles (starting from 2011) with images of children’s paintings from Kids Earth Fund made with recycled cork will be offered. All proceeds from the sales of these ornaments and tile collections will be donated to the Kids Earth Fund.

The hotel also has a SNS program allowing guests to post photos on social media. For every guest who posts a photo of Grand Hyatt Tokyo with the hashtag #GrandHoliday2018 on Instagram, the hotel will donate 100 yen per post to the Kids Earth Fund. Please see the campaign site for more information.
