This is my favourite winter sport. It is dynamic, and has a lot of dirty tricks.

A co-worker of mine in South Africa was into speed-skating he also coached handicapped kids and took them to competitions.
Don't know enough to give an Opinion but it looks like a tough sport to partake in.

Short track includes speed skating, but mainly and overwhelmingly it includes fighting for a best position on the rink, pushing the opponents to fall down and causing them to crash in the rails. At the high speed everything is developing, it is very spectacular and usuallly has a lot of surprises, even the slowest can win, if he crashes his adverseries.

speed skating is one thing but short track is definitely a sport for killing where the purpose is if not to kill the opponent, to harm him severely. It is very dangerous and many skaters finish the competition with broken limbs or cut wounds from the skate edges of their opponents. i do not understand why disabled kids should take up the most dangerous speed skating discipline. Are you sure they participate in short track?

LoveUSA.
Not sure if they did short-track or not, even if they did it was among themselves and more of a confidence builder I guess.

It is largely known that the South koreans dominate this sport.
