I hate to see incarcerated animals. Some pp, want them to perform and do circus tricks. They're animals, thru should be outside somewhere.

Poor panda. Living conditions don't exactly resemble its natural habitat, do they?

kawai sooo. just got a dog a few months ago and totally understand an animals feeling NOW. i dont even think some breeds of dogs should be pets, like larger ones or a huskey. The panda is in jail for our amusement! i will not support zoos or the likes anymore.

There isn't much I can say, you have taken all my thoughts. I despise circuses, aquariums, zoos and the like. People going to them are supporting animal abuse and cruelty. Not my cup of tea.

This "poor" panda is just taking one for the team. He lives in a cage to serve as an ambassador for Panda-kind. Each person who sees him leaves thinking, "maybe we should save the panda species." He is aware he is a propaganda tool. He endures so his species will survive. The free grub and breeding partners delivered to his front door aren't a bad deal either.

Time to bust a move.

But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east and Shin Shin is the sun!

i find the zoo's in japan are waaaay to small to contain large animals. It's not fair for them. The zoo in Tenoji made me almost cry. The animals just do the same 8 second routine over and over (like walk to one side of the room roll over and repeat)...

if you are going to encage animals, make the enclosures bigger and greener. It's not fair at all to live your whole life in a cell.

If his existence as a propaganda tool is so essential to the survival of his species, then how about improving those living conditions?

I thought that heir habitat was in the Tibetan Mountains, where they are dying out, and that the zoos, even the small ones, were helping them to survive. Is that not true?

Does anyone else think Pandas in zoos are passe? They never do anything other than eat bambooo. They don't like sex. And they all look alike. no wonder they are endagered.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Agree they are passe. Anyway it is way more fun to watch a Grizzly.

Is there some kind of glass or something? There looks like kind of a reflection on the bottom, and it looks like maybe the panda is leaning against the glass.

Otherwise he (she),s standing on one foot. Either way, pretty cool photo.

Stop criticizing the Japanese zoo, or rather you prefer to do scientific research in the wild Japanese style.
