From the way it broke, it appears to have been split before this storm came along

What I find interesting is the differences in the way ideas are expressed in different languages. Although the article is in English, it says that the tree is damaged. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in English speaking countries we would have said that the tree damaged the fence and the wall. It almost sounds like the fence damaged the tree.
