I don’t think they’re electric on the boom, I see a hydraulic cylinder. They should’ve at least had bags covering the boom in case there was a drip or two hydraulic fluid. Those linkages need to be greased so grease or dirt could’ve fallen into the soup, not a very hygienic set up except for the stainless steel attachments.

I had never heard of this event before. The preparation process looks very interesting, and I wouldn’t turn down a bowl of taro and meat soup. There’s probably enough concentrated umami stuck to the side of the pot to last me a year.
