He pays more attention to the food than to the woman next to him but i guess that if guys are offered choice between food and women, they will choose food. Men always think about food, if they do not have food they get nervous. If they do not have women they get nervous but they want women only after they ate food, not the other way round. So men are rather primitive.

Why can't we (men) buy both, Food and Women? Best of both worlds...ahhh the power of money...=P

Man, this dude is way past due to come up missin' in one of those baloons.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

some people really do have very poor general knowledge...I wonder if Richard really cares if some guys living in bubbles dont know he exists?

I know I do not care if you exist or not. Because I am so safe in my bubble.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I know of his company, but I could care less about knowing what he looks like or remembering his name. There are 230 people richer than him, and you probably don't know a quarter of them by face or name. Who cares.

I guess some people do. I do not even know who the other 230 people are, but maybe Sarge does. He is all knowing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Those who don't know him are the very people who wouldnt know "F1" from the "O2". Those people think car racing starts with Nascar and ends with Indy car. If there were a picture for the word "entrepreneur" in the dictionary then this guys face would be there. Curiously if he were an American citizen and achieveded the exact some success, you can be sure that he would be very well known to all and sundry. I first became really aware of Branson in the early 90's when he was trying for his adventure ballooning records. I really like the fact he has his own private island..in the British Virgin islands naturally...

Maybe you should do something for yourself besides coveting.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@wolves- not interested in racing. I have no idea about the American or English side. Guess some of us Americans are good about caring about our interests and not sticking our nose elsewhere, right sarge?

Richard Branson's not here for the green tea and onsens.

"Men always think about food"

Love knows the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach!

I also see some ika there on the table. Did Branson eat that?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

he behaves like a normal guy

i think this is probably the root of why he is generally pretty popular

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Really? If he wasn't a billionaire would he still be handsome?

is he a billionaire? I do not know who he is. I just see an ordinary guy eating sushi and compare him to my foreign acquaintances in Japan. At least he behaves like a normal guy, going to a normal sushi place, not to a fancy expensive restaurant. He pays more attention to the food than to the woman next to him but i guess that if guys are offered choice between food and women, they will choose food. Men always think about food, if they do not have food they get nervous. If they do not have women they get nervous but they want women only after they ate food, not the other way round. Sir Richard, amongst his worldwide interests, is also a sponsor of the Formula 1 Brawn Racing team

LoveUSA: Handsome man, at least more handsome of the foreigners I have met in Japan

Really? If he wasn't a billionaire would he still be handsome?

Is this sushi place near the Yoshinoya on the main avenue or is it the other one near the Mansei bridge?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I could spend quite a bit of time in that place sampling the Hakkaisan on the menu in the background.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Branson is otaku? Now there's a surprise! Of course he can afford to be.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, so some of you chaps get really up tight when an American does not recognize one of your celeb's

if you yankee doodles heard of the sex pistols it was partly due to this man

0 ( +0 / -0 )

IchyaTactics It appear that like many from your country you are not aware of what is going on in rest of the world. Sir Richard, amongst his worldwide interests, is also a sponsor of the Formula 1 Braun Racing team. Do you not keep in touch with world news? As it happens Sir Richard is a very personable and courteous gentleman.

Should of been new British PM after Blair was sent to the Haugue...but you can never control such things.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Who is this guy?... I'll take the bait and ask again

Handsome man, at least more handsome of the foreigners I have met in Japan

I don't know how important that person is for my bubble, . err life, ... at least his name was not mentioned during the last 18 years in the news which I pay for - NHK. Who cares, as long as he enjoyed his sushi.

"It'd look much better if Norika Fujiwara was sitting next to him"

That goes without saying.

Hey, Ichya, I thought you said you weren't gonna wiki him, ha ha ha!

Possibly the most enetertaining string of comments on a pic of the day I've seen.... But, yeah 'Branson eats such' so what

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Can you believe how hungry he is?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't know him either. Thought it'd be Chuck Norris or somebody else from the surfer scene.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So how come you didn't know who Richard Branson was ?

You mean is? He did not pass within the short time I hope. I did not know because I have no interest in the guy and I have never had a Branson pickle.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good idea Ichya. How about one of the Magic Roundabout ? Or Branston Pickle ?

northlondon, you must be mistaking me for someone who grew up in the UK. Or would you prefer Sesame Street and some Dill?

Moderator: Readers, please stay on topic.

dully noted. Can we change the picture now?

What is that?

Time for bed Zebedee..

Do you think anybody clued in the sushi chef on who he is, other than some foreign businessperson? Must've been wondering why all the fuss with the picture and all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I just want to chime in here for Ichya. Having also grown up in a small town in FL, I also do not recognize this man's name. However, I've seen his face in an interview somewhere, but could not remember where or for what. I don't listen to music published by VA and I am very familiar with Jack Kirby.

Thank you. Unless you are interested in what he does and/or you are in the UK, you would not know who this guy is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have family in a small town in FL, they never mentioned there was a blackout on world news there.....

Love the sarcasm. I will just say again, does not interest me. Would not have watched it or cared about it. New Flash: "Rich guy travels the world in a balloon", channel changed. Is the point taken or do we need to go further with it?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Look a' them chops. Sushi? I reckon ol' Dickie Branson would eat the raw, still-twitching heart from out the warm carcass of a clumsily bludgeoned seal pup dragged whimpering off the tundra, if offered the chance.

@cleo-Yeah, I ended up reading that in his wiki. But before that, never heard of him. I would like to have that amount of money too...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Do any of his web profiles mention he started his business career defrauding the UK Customs and revenue and was convicted of tax fraud and fined a large amount,it was the need to pay off this fine (or go to jail if he failed)that he has subsequently confessed provided the impetus for his business expansion. He has also tried ballooning across the atlantic /round the world held the blue ribbon for the fastest transatlantic crossing by a passenger boat amongst other attempts to die young.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I mean, do you have conversations with people about him?

I have been known to fantasize about having his money.......

Maybe if he screwed up big or caused a big commotion, I probably would of heard of him.

He does screw up and cause a commotion at times... like when he attempted to fly around the world/across the Atlantic/Pacific/somewhere in a hot-air balloon.... or got rescued when his boat capsized during an attempt to beat the record for sailing across the Atlantic.... or when he sued British airways for libel...(that wasn't a screw-up, they settled out of court and he got to give his employees a 'BA libel bonus' from the compensation)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have never heard of him and nah, not going to google or wiki him. Just, is this the best pic of the day they could get?

@daisan-think the point was about the picture.

Megastore was an addition, so was Cola. Thank you for your concern.

Your welcome. Think the point was that he was wiki'd and it was understood. If you would of read the post before hand, you might have got that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sir Richard Branson - ever heard of any of the "Virgin" franchises? Eg. Virgin Air, Megastore or Cola? All him.

Read the posts above before you post.

Where the hell do you think Branson Pickle comes from ! You never had a cheese and pickle sandwich ?

Nope. What the hell is that? Got Dill Pickles in America. Heard of those?

Richard should spend a few months in Japan every year and shake things up a bit. Japan needs more entrepreneurial types.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Man, is this dude famous or something.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What is he in town for just lunch?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

as far as entrepreneurs go, he's one of the most high profile. and he seems to be one who has got through his career with a mostly extremely good, positive public profile

lol. That is probably why I have never heard of him. Maybe if he screwed up big or caused a big commotion, I probably would of heard of him. They normally do not put the good guys on the news or tabloids unless something major is happening.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

cleo-yeah, read that in his wiki. Sorry, did not watch Friends or Baywatch. I watched The Simpsons, but the episode they are referring to, I can not place him. Plus I think the character was based off of him, so I still would not recognize him. But you get my point right? That it is possible that timeon and me do not know who this guy is and that we cas still function in society and live on planet earth. I mean, do you have conversations with people about him?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He also appeared in Friends, Baywatch and The Simpsons.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

cleo- as though as it may sound like I am lying, I really only listened to hip hop and I did not have a clue about record labels or deals until way later on. Also, I just wiki'd him, but no, never flew VA. Never heard of it and I had no interest in airliners. I only knew PAN AM and Continental back then. Then United or whatever, really have no idea who this guy is until I just wiki'd him.

Also, not interested in VG. Cool for people who are, just not in my interests. You are from England right, so I am sure you know of him, me, small city in FL and left before it got big. So, there are a lot of big stars and rich people I have no idea about, but I could also care less.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ichya, Branson was famous way before 1998.

Never heard of Virgin Records?

Virgin Atlantic?

Virgin Galactic?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cleo-Do you know who Benjamin Stoddert? If you do, good on you, if not it is not gonna bother you one bit. Do you know who Stan Lee, Jack Kirby or Steve Ditko? I do and so do a lot of other people, but they are within my interests.

Why should I know him? Is he giving out scholarships? Did he find the cure for cancer? Did he win an oscar or something? Maybe if he did something I was interested in, I might know who he is or I would of saw him in the news. Other than that, why is not possible?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Um, I have been in Japan since 1998. I was in Okinawa for the first 3 and was deployed most of the time. Only news, stars and stripes.

Got to mainland and been here since 9/11/01. I watch Japanese news and what is on AFN. If he was on there, then I missed it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cleo, how is is possible for anyone not to know who Richard Branson is?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge, I'm in Ichya's league. so?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Man, is this dude famous or something

In a word, Yes. In two words, Yes, very.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Man is this dude famous or something. I have never heard of him"

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! What planet have you been living on, Ichya?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wonder if Branson is going to buy the place.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe Richard being in Japan has something to do with the computer glitch that grounded some airlines in the other story.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He sort of looks very hung over or something. The dude is smart though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

All that money and he still can't afford a decent haircut.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow. I was near there today. Cool.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How do you knopw which place in Akihabara it is in the picture? And why hasn't he got a couple of his J Virgin stewardesses with him? He usually does when he is in town.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

fascinating! I wonder what he'll get up to next!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

wow i wonder if he can use chopsticks

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What's that shaggy thing sitting next to him?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I've been to this place. Decent sushi. Branson must be thinking "Wow, I've haven't seen so much ginger since the last season of Gulligan's Island."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why? And man he looks like a shaggy enu!
