And here we go, the Japanese Olympics. The TV is not going to show any other countries, or sports where there is not a Japanese in. As usual.

I like the Japanese outfits. Some countries' outfits were awful, but the Japanese outfit had a nice clean minimalistic look.

Exactly. Before Vancouver American TV did not show much of the Nordic sports as American did not do well in them. Most people want to know how the athletes of their nation are doing.

For what it's worth, the Australian media focuses entirely on the Australian teams. I checked when I went back.

Fair enough I guess. I would like to see more coverage of the lesser known / less popular sports though (no matter what nationality the media is we're discussing). I like the biathlon but on TV it's as rare as hen's teeth. I can just imagine the Finns in the Winter War against the Soviets. Pity they lost but they sure put up a good fight.

Actually on Canadian broadcasts we show games if they're popular not necessarily if Canadians are in it. It gives the whole event an experience rather than a limited viewpoint.

With networks owning multiple TV channels nowadays, it's easier to show other sports/athletes just to fill in the time.

I have been watching the women's slope style competition for over half an hour now. Haven't seen any competitor from Japan. The commentators are making informed comments on the athletes from the nations participating.
