Always wondered why Japan didn't seem to have many working steam locos, despite really liking rail. The UK has some great heritage railways operating. They are hugely popular with tourists and an important part of our scientific heritage. Mechanical engineering at its best. I hope the kids enjoy their ride.

The Oigawa line started operating the "Thomas" train in 2014, and I took my kids. They were 2 years old then, and like most kids don't remember anything before they were 3 or 4. But they do have memories of riding the Thomas train.
