I think Kate's time is up

She looks absolutely hideous. I guess that's what years of cocaine and alcohol abuse do to you. Why Louis Vuitton even uses a known crackhead who is 20 years past her prime as one of their models is beyond me. Does anyone actually find her beautiful?

She's not the ingenue anymore (not that she ever was, but she projected the image), but she's not 20 anymore either. She's got name recognition, she's an attractive woman. I'd turn my head if I knew Kate Moss was standing in the lobby.

The Marlboros are taking their toll.

papasmurfinjapan: Does anyone actually find her beautiful?

Yes, I do.

Why Louis Vuitton even uses a known crackhead.....

And, legality of the matter aside, I'm pretty sure using cocaine now and then makes you no more of a "crackhead" than drinking every now and then makes you an alcoholic.

....who is 20 years past her prime as one of their models is beyond me.

She's 39 years old for heaven's sake? Does a model have to be a teenager to be in "her prime"? How very narrow-minded and limiting. Those of us whose teen years are well and thankfully behind us appreciate a model who has lived a little and isn't a mere child playing dress up. Watch the documentary Girl Model and you'll know how nice it is that first, Kate has had longevity in the industry and second, that she's actually a woman and not a child.

ambrosia - women didn't appreciate Kate Moss 20 years ago when she was the poster child for the ultra-thin models of the day. (and we all know how she stayed so thin..)

And just because you might look tired, have wrinkles or grey hair doesn't mean you can't be beautiful either or maybe I'm just far more open-minded about what beauty is

Oh don't get me wrong. I agree.. 68yr old Helen Mirren is beautiful. Heck, even 82yr old Carmen DellOrefice is looking good for her age. The point is, as far as 39yr olds go, don't you think Kate Moss looks a bit worse for wear? If she looked like that at 49 I'd say hmm okay... If she looked like that at 59 I'd say wow.

But since she looks like that at 39, I'm forced to say - what's so special here? She just looks like most other 39yr olds who have partied a bit too much.

Everything I wanted to comment has been said by Ambrosia. Thanks Ambrosia.

20 years ago she was 19, so no, a lot of women wouldn't necessarily have appreciated her which is exactly the point I was making. And no, we don't all know how she stayed so thin unless she did what most models do to stay thin, mainly being born with a predisposition to be somewhat willowy and eating far less than the rest of us normally do.

papasmurfinjapan: Go check out 38yr Yonekura Ryoko on another thread. THAT is real beauty. Of course, that's just my opinion - beauty is, after all, in the eye of the beholder - and I know I'm in the minority. Doesn't mean I'm going to change how I feel though.

Yes, that's your opinion and no one is asking you to change it. I agree that Ryoko Yonekura is beautiful but what's that got to do with whether or not Kate Moss is beautiful? Halle Berry is 46, Aishwarya Rai is 39, Sofia Vergara is 41, Charlize Theron is 38, Angela Basset is 53, Jamie Lee Curtis is 53, Imam is 56 and they're all gorgeous. Just because one woman is beautiful doesn't mean another woman can't be too. And just because you might look tired, have wrinkles or grey hair doesn't mean you can't be beautiful either or maybe I'm just far more open-minded about what beauty is.

That's good to know. I'd hate to think you were someone who hates a woman who ages.

I understand your point but to me she still has that certain je ne sais quoi and apparently a few more than me agree since in the past year she's had major contracts with Christian Dior, Rimmel, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Virgin Mobile as well as Longchamp, Mango Vogue-Eyewear and Topshop. I don't always think that the model de jour is all that but I do like the way Kate looks. As they say, to each his or her own and a good thing at that or we'd all be fighting over the same man and woman and no one would be fighting over us.

Maybe fashion's just going the way of everything else; it's all about names: if JK Rowling writes a thriller, people run out and buy it, regardless of quality, because of her name. And if Kate Moss is modelling something,it's got to be great because, we'll, she's Kate Moss, never mind how she looks.

Could be good news for older models, if it's true.

(And Kate Moss looks all right as far as I'm concerned in this pic.)

Wait... wasn't there a "leaked" video of her sniffing some of that powdered stuff at a music studio???

She looks nice but she would have made a better photo if she'd actually smiled rather than whatever it is she's doing.

Is it the drug prevention campaign ? Then put a photo without pro make up, flattering lights nor photoshop :

That always was. If your ad has a celeb in it (even ugly) all the media will comment and you'll get free PR. Another technique is to make shocking ads (even ugly) to create a buzz. Note that she is not even ugly, just ordinarily boring physically. She has an ugly attitude, an ugly way of slouching and making hateful faces like a depressive teen. But kudos to Cokate for wonderfully managing her career by dating a series of guys super-famous.

Not a flattering photo of her!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@risugirl the only thing flattering about her is her paycheck!

I think she looks great. Yes, she has messed around with booze and other drugs, which is always going to tarnish her image among some, but that behavior aside,I give her much kudos for what she has contributed to modern feminine style, and for achieving the longevity that she has done in her career, in the cut-thoat fickle world of fashion. It certainly can't be easy to stay on the top rung for so long! And the fact she has managed to, with all the bad publicity she has received over the years, and being 39 now, makes it all the more remarkable in my book! And there is no doubt I would guess, that if someone mentioned the word fashion, most would probably think of the name Kate Moss. Whether you disapprove of her off-camera antics or not, it can't be disputed that she is a true fashion icon.

she's gross... should have brought in Kate Upton or Adriana Lima.. actually, only Kate Upton would be fine

Newsflash! Stop the presses! Thirty-nine-year-old woman looks older than when she was nineteen!

@ ambrosia

If you are going to be one of the word's "best" supermodels, it would help if you looked like one.

To me, Kate Moss, just looks like a haggard 39yr old with a bit too much money to spend. I see better looking 39yr olds every day. Go check out 38yr Yonekura Ryoko on another thread. THAT is real beauty.

Of course, that's just my opinion - beauty is, after all, in the eye of the beholder - and I know I'm in the minority. Doesn't mean I'm going to change how I feel though.

I think she looks very nice. But I have never been one of those who is into teens in high school uniforms...
