It's not like company's have to give a reason. Just close the plant, pay any incurred costs, and walk TF away. The French don't have to like it.

It is not like they are acknowledged as part of the countries with high productivity rate, isn't it ... Lets just believe some guy clearly stating that he want cheap workers ...

I have used tyres from all makers over my driving life. Now I use Bridgestone Regno tyres and traction is very impressive, I can do a very quick left or right turn at speed and there isn't even a squeek.

I read the article that sangetsu posted, it might have been some time ago, but wether this or any other company that ticks over, rather than running at full production, it does not matter wether its in the UK France Germany Timbuktu, if its not efficient or profitable it will close. so if its the "French way" to stand around all day drinking coffee and smoking, talking for a large part of the day, its there own fault, they should understand it can't carry on, and it hasn't. But also the management are to blame as well for letting the sloppy attitude and behaviour to carry on. would I invest in a poorly run company? no, so this is why they have missed out on much needed international investment. 10-1 this factory will be closed, brought, and shipped back to China, set up and run at full capacity, and probably make cheaper tyres!

Bridgestone makes some great tire models, and some crap ones. Michelin also makes some great tires and some crap ones. The same goes for the Italian Pirelli, German Continental, and American Goodyear.
Just about every tire company has some great models in their lineup, and some crap ones. There is no tire company with universally great product across all lines. Although, Michelin probably comes the closest, albeit at a super premium price.

I think everyone should be unionized.

Some left wing French think are self-entitled /most unions, communist, socialist)
Problem is that the Feench government is still not fighting it today although we can feel a shift coming soon due to the "too much" feeling most standard true workers have raised (gilets jaunes).
I support the change and get rid of many laws giving unions incredible rights, especially the one to not negociate but to set riots at plants.

Drlucifer, but you have to agree that the laziness of the French is timeless :)

This article was in 2013, 7 years ago which is a long time. Don't know what you are trying to
say with this outdated article.

I kinda feel sorry for Bridgestone. I bought a set of Bridgestone tires once, Potenzas, but Bridgestone has fallen behind its rivals, especially Michelin, like all Japanese companies do and there is no comparison; Michelin blows Bridgestone away in all market segment according to Consumer Reports reviews.
Now I only buy Michelin tires.
It would be extremely hard for Bridgestone to compete in the home country of the king of tires, Michelin.
