To meet the handsome prince, you must kiss a lot of frogs

Fashion model Tsubasa Masuwaka and her husband, Men's Egg model Naoki Umeda, attend a press conference at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo on Wednesday to celebrate the release of Disney's latest animated feature, "The Princess and the Frog," which opens in Japanese theaters March 6. The pair were dressed as the film's main characters, Tiana and Prince Naveen. They shared a "magical kiss" as the stage was enveloped in smoke, and then reappeared dressed as frogs.

Dressed as frogs huh...with a cheesy smoke filled stage (daily here) with magical kisses... Well, I guess its a kid flick but that shoots up to about 40 here so Disney does quite well. Romantic-Fairytale-Japan... Japan are suckers for Fairtale Inc. & western weddings... gotta love a billion dollar con (Valentines Day right after Xmas)..at the end of the day all you have is a glorified pet and a husband that spends more giri time with his drinkin work buddies...

at first i didn't really understand the point of her existence. but now it is blindingly clear. she was brought to this world to be with her egg model. may they and their hair driers live happily ever after. a match made in disney heaven

This is not creepy.

She does kind of look like a frog.

LOL! Egg is a magazine name!

reappeared dressed as frogs

But frogs don't wear clothes.

If I plucked up the courage to kiss a frog and he turned into what's in the picture, I'd definitely be disappointed. A Crunchy Frog Chocolate would be better.

If any foreigner on here ever goes home, Egg or Men's Egg (possibly the latter in particular) is a great way to shoe the whackiness of Japan. I always did my stand and read gawking at these books. Highlarious. Absolute nutbars. But it takes all sorts...

Well, they both look like they live in a cartoon world.

Agree with dolphingirl and cleo.. man this girl is...a frog! the guy also ain't that good looking since he appears to be missing a front teeth, these two probably spend like 4 hours in front of the mirror every morning. typical j-nutters. yuck

I can see no magical thing here...they're still look like a frogs...HIDOI!...

She looks more like The Cowardly Lion than a frog.

A little misaligned tooth/imperfection is a charm point.

That frog looks so... schmaltzy

I saw many much prettier women in Japan. I have no idea why the prettiest women aren't successful models.

Egg... the only magizine I know that takes really ugly folks, plasters them with make-up and claims they are "kawaiiiiiiiiiii". Honestly it is like the j-sluts guide to fashion and men. Men's egg is about picking up chicks and looking asexual. Eeek!

He's okay. She's not cute at all.

Thanks God, I am not a child any more – I would get scared to see such people

Fashion model Tsubasa Masuwaka and her husband

I didn't know they let little kids get married here...

tmarie, I used to buy that magazine for like a year or so till I switched to Jelly, a much nicer version without the craziness and ugliness from Egg. Egg models are plain average looking people with tons and tons of make up on and most of them are like 16 or 17 years old, yuck!! I'm a little too old for that. Still, the economy going down the sewer and this is the only thing j-people can come up with..geezus.

I still cannot understand how this mugged up chick is a model. Seriously. Is she a hand model or a foot model? Maybe the airbrush gods work miracles.

TokyoGas: i guess she is frog model and he is a vampire model.

What is wrong with the chick's face? Does she have that weird kabuki syndrome?

Weird.

Those Japanese males (and females) have very coarse hair which allows them to style it like animated characters and it stays put.

I didn't realize how coarse till I went to a salon in Japan and was asked by all the stylists if they could touch my hair. Cute guys wanting to touch my hair; I said Yes! of course.

I think his hair looks kind of cool but the couple does look freakish in this photo. Don't know anything about them.

Because maybe some got brains?

@Kitsuneyoukai: ever had a look at ppl's hair roots while they're seated and you're standing on a train? Never saw so many big black holes on someone's scalp, it looks painful and creepy.

As for the pic, hate the guy's hair and the girl's plastic smile. Frogs are better looking XD

What is wrong with this picture? Pretty much everything. First, the princess in "Princess and the Frog" is supposed to be black. Not pale with blond hair (both totally wrong for a Japanese woman.) Second, the guy is a total dork. Third, two characters with darker skin would have been truer to the story.

I usually don't comment on these kinds of pictures and stories about Japanese models and idols. But this one is particularly disturbing. I mean, these two people have nothing to do with this movie, right ? They are not voice-over characters, animators, writers ? Nothing ! But someone hired them to get all dolled up and prance around on stage to promote this film ? How "undemanding" has the Japanese public become anyway. All too weird for me. Sorry.

BTW- does anyone have the photo where they are dressed as frogs ? I'll betcha that's a keeper.

He's kinda cute. Why is her hair red and why does she look completely vacuous?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Loox like we gotta' couple o' frogsi n this photo.....but I ain't kissin' either of them ('sides, I've already my princess, and she never was a frog to beign with)....
