Jeez you guys, since when was ALL manga and ALL anime pedophilic fantasies? Only thing you seem to be focusing on is hentai lolicon garbage as an excuse to diss everything related to anime/manga. Tone down the rhetoric, sheesh.

Some of you are closed minded. Personally I think that one day I hope I can visit this convention. Cosplay is a way for people to show their love for a particular character from games and anime/manga. And some of the costumes used take alot of time to make. Some are also very diffucult to make. So instead of dissing these nice folks congratulate them. And please for those who are going enjoy the show.

I don't get the wasting of money on the figurines, bath towels, body pillows, etc either. I mean dude, I get more out of a video game, manga, or DVD than that. Nearly 5,000-10,000+ yen for some of those trinkets.

Yes, very Japanese indeed. Why is it gaining popularity in France, the UK, the US .... ?

And they shout in sharp voice like the Japanese cartoon character as usual. Don't give a chance to the pedophiles, babies.

A bunch of people with a non mainstream interest getting together to be social and enjoy each other's company while cuties dance around dressed like their fantasies, Sounds wonderful!

Oh, wait, I mean horrible. Those poor girls, this must terribly impact their self esteem. They must think people will like them more if they're cute. Hmmm... this was much better before reality walked in...

The sexualization / objectification of women --well, girls-- by Japanese society is amazing. Submitting to the male's will --fantasy-- and being meek, hairless and childlike to accommodate a person so laking in self that they must dominate, be all powerful. A psyche that needs help.

I'm an anime/manga fan too. But I would never wanna go to these kind of events, they bore me to tears. I see it like a comicon/trekkie event in the states. zzz Cute cosplayers though.

Anyways I'm gonna catch up on Durarara!!

The popularity of anime can be attributed the booby picture on the bottom right.

Thanks for trying to put a positive spin on the industry, but it's actually flat chested highschoolers that look like 12 years old. Or is there a parity to the trend that's happening at Akiba. Now that I mention Akihabara, I lament the days when it wasn't full of anime otakus. It's sad to also note that those cosplayers in the picture are actually models. The common amateurs are usually deranged sociopaths that have taken a different road from the productive members of society during their adolescence.
