“Tokyo Michiterasu 2012” will be held from Friday until Dec 28 at Tokyo Station. The theme is “history, future and hope.” In addition to the thousands of lights, including revolving lanterns along Gyoko-dori Avenue, the event features state-of-the-art 3D projection mapping displayed on the newly restored Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building. The name “Michiterasu” was derived from a Japanese term with multiple meanings, including shedding light on the road ahead, on the people, the city and the future.

These 3D Projection Productions in Tokyo are amazing to see in person. I already checked out the one at the Caretta Shiodome in Shimbashi, and it was a great Christmas show. I highly recommend that you to bring your family and enjoy these spectacular shows.

The passage
Event called off yesterday as it was too busy - future "screenings" not yet clear, but most likely cancelled (especially 12/24, as it would most likely attract even more people). Bit sad, would have loved to have seen it!

It was a very interesting 3D projection mapping, but unfortunately, the event was called off due to excess crowding. I was lucky to see and record it on the first evening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwWTpEmhJVc.
