The 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee holds an event in Chiba Thursday at the start of an educational program about the Olympics to promote better understanding of diversity and a spirit of fair play. The program will be implemented in kindergartens and schools across the nation.

My question is this; Who is going to educate THEM about diversity?

to promote better understanding of diversity and a spirit of fair play.

Irony so deep and rich it's surprising anyone can keep a straight face as they say such things.

Nagano '98 burned the account books and Tokyo 2020 has already deleted their bid committee accounts. Spirit of fair play, what a joke!

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology should educate THEM about diversity, but anyway all Japanese hafta get excited over talking about the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic.

Diversity and fair play? Now? Just for the Olympics? Shouldn't some education ministry be promoting diversity and fair play since, I don't know, the Meiji Restoration? Okay, forget about diversity in Homogenous Japan; how about just fair play? It's 2017 and they're going to TEACH fair play to four-year-olds so by 2020, when they're seven, they can ... play fair?

How do you spell Boondoggle? Boondoogle? Who gets the money? Who decides how to spend the money? Where does the money come from?

diversity

Same clothing, same outfits, not a single non Japanese in the room... How about embracing the real meaning of the word?

Good luck! It only took two years and massive pressure for the old boys to change the golf course rules to allow women to join, and they are STILL grumbling about it.

Wait, wait! I think I see someone in the front row with bleached hair! Diversity!!

Hopefully the message will be passed onto the broadcasters who will embrace diversity and show events in order of prominence and entertainment value, instead of all-day repeats of whatever minor event, wrestling, judo, etc, a Japanese has just won a medal in, interspersed only with congratulatory comments from non-sporting celebrities.

At the London Olympics, I think it was 7 of the 8 finalists got personal records in the Men's 800m final, among them World and World Junior records, making it quite possibly the greatest athletics race ever run. Was it aired more than once on Japanese tv?

Really? to promote better understanding of diversity? They really shouldn't be saying that after Moritomo Gakuen. And how do you define "to promote better understanding of diversity"? How are they going to do that? And for how long? For just the duration of the olympics? For all foreign tourists after the olympics? For foreigners living in Japan? "to promote better understanding of diversity" is such a vague term and without goals and concrete actions the term is hollow. If they have concrete targets and measures, then I'll listen.
