i miss tokyo so much. was there for 9 months in 2003 and it was the best time in my life ever. I think where picture was taken from is a bit toward the center of Tokyo; you can not have all these giant constructions in one picture unless you are a bit far away from the location to make the perfect shot.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, all! May that on-sale bucket of KFC be yours in the coming New Year. :)

Hey, Byvtzpk, if someone obstructed MY view of the always fascinating Fujisan, I would be upset too! Jeepers, what do you you look at, the side of a building? Give it a rest, please.

We used to be able to see Mt Fuji from wor huse until some "!%$# built a dirty great factory in the fields.

Too many mince pies and/or, sweet sherries, mrs cleo! ;)

It's in Shinjuku. A bit blurred but fabulous shot with Mt. Fuji in "Hokusai" style.

Great shot. Where is the viewpoint?

Wonderful :)

It is amazing that Mt Fuji is near from Tokyo and we can really see it. No wonder tons of ashes would fly to Tokyo, Kanagawa,, all over and cover all area if Mt Fuji were erupted.

Where was it taken from? I want to stand in the same place, admire this view, and take my own pic.

Perhaps the message is 'rekindle your inner light' - Merry Christmas !!

"So the photog in these cases has to compromise"

May very well be true, but not for the stated reasons.

The neon lights are blurred because the entire picture is blurred, Fuji silhouette and all. Hard to tell why in this resolution, could be post-processing - certainly the jpeg-compression has not been kind to the details - could be camera shake, but maybe the photographer really did have to make a compromise - the compromise between not making a picture or making a picture under sub-optimal conditions (atmospheric irregularities, dirty windows, small camera, whatever.)

Except for a few neon lights that really are overexposed, the reason you notice it more on the lights is not that they're overexposed - it's that they have the highest contrasts, but it's also very obvious in the outline of Fujisan, also a high-contrast border.

Wow..beautiful photo and yet still not so beautiful. Perhaps a Nikon can perfect it...

Merry Christmas all!

The reason the neon & other lights are as they are is because they are much brighter light sources, if the photog exposed for the neon you wudnt see fuji-san because the background & most of the pic wud be dark. So the photog in these cases has to compromise, in this case in order to see fuji-san & the shinjuku skyline the neon has to be overexposed relative to the rest of the scene, thats it

merry xmas all!

Nice pic - good composition and coloring.

such a shame that air pollution so often obstructs views in the tokyo area. on a clear winter's day, the flatness of the kanto plain allows for wonderful views of the surrounding mountains if you can get up a little from street level

i always hoped to be up the tocho on a particularly clear day but was never lucky enough, unfortunately

Excellent photo.

Great picture. I'm not much of a photographer, or anything for that matter, but the neon looks a little blurred. Too much Ozeki One Cup last night perhaps.

Merry Xmas
