Poor boar. Leave it alone.

Quite a sad and surreal pic. Must be terrified, poor boar.

Why have they trapped it?

Since the human population have been evacuated from these towns and are not likely to return any time soon the boars have run rampant and their populations have exploded. Usually when they are hunted they are used without waste but in these contaminated areas they will just be destroyed. If they were allowed to run free, which sounds nice, then there is the chance that they might spread beyond the contaminated zone and then we might see glowing varieties turning up at universities with idiot professors.

Boars spread disease and wreck havoc on the forests so likely this one will be culled. the government pays a bounty for pig and deer.

Residential area in an evacuation zone???

you want to eat wild boar you can buy it on the net. The bounty not protecting any meat markets, it's protecting the environment as most alpha predators have been eliminated in Japan. If there was no bounty there would be very little incentive to kill them. The price of meat is irrelevant. Our hunting group got 155 deer this season, just finished end of Feb, one deer is 10,000 yen. so the 12 of us got about 130,000 yen each for about 20 days hunting. Weekends and mainly just Sundays. Almost paid for our transport ammunition and beers.

Wild boars are also known to attack humans when their habitats are threatened, sadly there is a need to cull them.

the boar may have been trapped for its own protection. perhaps if it wanders too close to the contamination zone it will get all radioactive and gross. if infected with radiation it cannot be used for food.

does the boar glows in the dark?

the government pays a bounty for pig and deer.

does the bounty include the meat price? or just killing them to protect the farming industry? because this one looks big enough to get a lot of meat-money out of, but as i said before, it may be contaminated with radioactive substances in which case its bounty will decrese.
