One of the enduring mysteries of life in Japan is why Japanese girls always automatically make the V sign when they see a camera pointed at them. It must be in their DNA.

Charisma men!

I actually took a cell phone from one of my students yesterday to see his wallpaper picture, and sure enough, there is he and his girlfriend. New innovation on the V sign though, as I saw. She is holding it horizontally above her head and looking up at it. SEE, there is change here! The guy on the right is well happy.

Only a Gaijin can make a Gachapin costume look cool to wear.

ha ha ameben,,,i was wondering how the charisma men went to the bathroom in those suits,,,after a few drinks that would have being difficult

Wow, they put sooo much time into those costumes.

You do the Hokey-Pokey, And you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about!

Pfft I look better in halloween gear than them.

It's more like charisma woman judging by the two on the left

Have you ever noticed that Halloween party pics in Tokyo usually mean guys dressed up in gooffy costumes and just about every girl in something sexy or kawaii. Usually involving ears.

When I get photos from friends and their Halloween parties in the US, there is much less kawaii and sexy and a lot more creative costuming by the fairer sex.

I miss Halloween in the US.

You boys have done well. Respect.

No they don't.

tkoind2 :

I do too.

Halloween is in everything, the smell of the streets, the fallen leaves, the music, the "Trick or Treaters", the parties, the costumes that tell stories...

This photo is making me homesick.

Anyone who went out in that weather last night is either a serious party person, or desperately h*rny -- or both. But it looks like those that went had a good time, so more power to them. My gal and I are hitting Roppongi tonight.

Thought Halloween was to dress up in scary stuff not like a 5 year old child. Glad i don`t go out on the town in Japan anymore.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

JT, why didn't you report this as news a few weeks back? I would have gone to it had I known about it sad face

tkoind2:

Wanna see a real costumes at a Halloween party? Then go to a Tokyo Decadance party(not just for Halloween), you wont be disappointed.

My gal and I are hitting Roppongi tonight

That's nothing to be proud of, I'd keep it to yourself if I were you...

Those guys are so cool! And those chicks are hot! I want to be friends with them! JUST AWESOME!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gonna have to dig up my Charisma Man costume, get on the Shink up there to Tokyo, and show these dudes how it is done.

Gloobey -- Please! Bar hopping in Roppongi at Halloween is good, harmless fun. In fact, it is fun to see the Japanese folks, especially the ladies, get into the spirit and dress in costumes. Get a life.

herefornow, you left out "in Roppongi," which is a little different than what you're getting at. Hop into Roppongi's "Motown" and then over to "Ageha" in Shinkiba and you will see what I mean.

What a happy friendly fun photo of 5 people having a good time at a party.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They look like they're having a good time! My friends and I are partying on Saturday-- can't wait.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Go picachu!! Trick or treat.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Roppongi? ... worst place in Tokyo!

This party was good fun (if a little crowded) - all the stereotypes were there but only to be expected in Roppongi on Halloween. JT posters really should lighten up.

This is the picture the tourist board should use for the "cool Japan" campaign.

How people can read so much into a simple photo of some ordinary people going out on the town for a laugh is beyond me.

They look like 2 normal handsome guys in rented costumes. I thought the concept of "charisma man" was a nerd in his own country that becomes somewhat appealing here? these guys look extremely normal and average Joes. It sounds like alot of jealousy to me. The girls are pretty if somewhat unoriginal in their costume choices. For all we know these guys could just be here on a holiday. I dont see anything unusual about this picture. It sounds to me the actual "charisma men" are the ones posting, jealous that these guys might actually NOT need to come to Japan to find girlfriends.

I've only been here a few years, but those costumes are played out cliches every Halloween. Looks like they ran into Don Quixote 5 minutes and grabbed whatever was in the bins by the front door before going to the club.

5 people having fun. Men's costumes look like they would be too hot to wear but hey, at least they made an effort for a costume party.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Aww dang, this makes me wanna show Japan how its really done on Halloween, but they may just think I'm another cosplayer lol. Vampire is always the best way to go if one wants to keep their "looks" and still have a good halloween costume. black and red cape with nice looking tux and some plastic fangs ooh yeah xD.

A vampire or devil = License to thrill.

You wouldn't want to wake up in the morning next to that thing in red.

Oh yes I would ;)

"every girl in something sexy or kawaii. Usually involving ears"

They all look alkie. And they all look alike too.

Watch for me this year everyone. I am going to about five places as a big pirate. Crusty and mean, and talking like a pirate full time. Pretty well just as I am on JT as a matter of fact. I was going to do the peg-legged thing, but with too much walking involved, I think I would really damage myself.

Anybody else doing something interesting? Any store-bought pikachus or gachapins?

Next year, I am going to be a handful of trail mix.

Lots of things make Halloween scary. Personally, I like things that go bump in the night... costume or no costume, it is all part of the fun.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They must have been handing out those ears at the door :|

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Now those are some real Halloween costumes, especially the guys' - they're so scary! Tee hee!

.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

no effort at all, like @jason6 said they sell those Pikachu and frog (Kerropi?) costumes right by the door at Don Quixote. As they are for girls, I am surprised they actually fit guys too. Ah well looks like they had fun and I actually prefer the girl in red for some reason, she looks like she would be fun.

My GF has never done the Halloween thing so is insisting on doing it this year ( I haven't done it in years not since the children were young) but in the grand tradition of my GF being a "Brat" and always having to look her best she could not find an imported quality costume in stock or one she could order in time so we (read I ) are making it (and yes it is sexy/cute what do you expect she is Japanese) I myself will be fairly cheaply dressed and it could maybe not even be called a costume!

Now in all this shopping she dragged me on I have come to know what are going to be the big ones this year and no surprise anything to do with Alice in wonderland ( JD movie ) seem to be the top choices just about every place even on the Japanese web shopping are sold out of the sexy queen of hearts and few if any Alice costumes left other then the cheesy Japanese ones.

So be one the lookout for a whole lot of Wonderland over the next 2 days.

My schoolmates back in high school used to put a lot of thought into their costumes. The last school day at/before Halloween, they'd wake up about 4am just to get their customes and themselves ready (make-up, hair style, body paint, etc). Then they'd head to class and be in costume the whole day. After school and extracurricular activities, we'd go trick-or-treating, maybe TP someone's house or two while avoiding drive-by egg-shootings, and go part-ay! ;)

Y'know what would be an interesting costume that's guaranteed to get everyone's attention?

A thobe, a ghutra and kufi, and a bunch of sugar packs strapped to the chest. ;)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

hahaha@ the guy who said Charisma men

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I guess costumes have to be slip on type in Roppongi? A few years back, I painted myself green and was headed to a party looking like the 'Hulk' and got harasses by J-Cops cuz I wasn't wearing a shirt and had ripped up jeans and barefooted. Like I was homeless! Geez Keystones! Lighten up!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Give me a break. Those were the best costumes they saw that night? I saw a guy dressed as the Duff man last night. Now that's a costume!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Perhaps had you had muscles like the Hulk they might have gotten the costume....

Happy Halloween all you North Americans - Have a good one!

Looks like a poster for the next edition of "Charisma Man."
