They need a "stop pretending you can't see that pregnant woman stood directly in front of your seat." poster.

Noise cancelling pods or headphones are extremely useful in big train stations, you don't even have to be listening to any music or podcasts just let the cancelling blunt the edge of the acoustic onslaught.

Even worse are those visiting idiots using their phones in public on loud speaker.

The subways are pretty loud anyway. The music helps some of us drown out the noise of the subways.

Of all the noises I hear while commuting on Japanese trains, the leakage from headphones would be among the most minor. If train operators are so concerned about noise, why don't they stop their constant announcements and transmit the info silently on screens instead?

Thankyou Good Manner!

It's so weird that in a country like Japan where such inappropriate behavior rarely happen we get to see such warning posters, whereas in UK, such show off rude manners happen every day in bus, tube, train, where council or even whole country doesn't even care over there.

I agree mate. Travelling on public transport in the UK is a nightmare (loud kids, people talking loudly and what not)

On smartphones, there are apps that measure noise levels. Very useful to know when protective action is needed.

Is it just me, or is every Metro Manner notice depicting "round eyes" or gaijin performing the bad manner gestures? Surely Tokyo Metro is not suggesting that bad manners is a problem from non Japanese users?

I beg to differ when the typical "eraso" salaryman animal charges into the crowd boarding the train and then its elbows out to make room to look at his manga cartoon on his portable device. How about posters depicting that?

A bad virus I have perforated my left eardrum with blood running out. Currently, I have lost more than 50% of my hearing in that ear. An ENT doctor who is treating me thinks the eardrum will repair itself. Eardrum perforation can happen when listening to high-volume music with headphones/air pods.

No need for noise level apps for the regular joe commuting to and from work, as illustrated in the picture at the head of the article.

Maybe a mask, not a noise level app.

Japan is very LOUD! Old people are loud, school students are loud, train stations are loud, train announcements are loud, markets and stores are LOUD. Singling out ONLY people (usually younger) that wear headphones is total BS ... how about a poster telling old people to stop SCREAMING at each other in public!!

Train:

My earpods: "TRAIN BY DAY, JOE ROGAN PODCAST BY NIGHT... ALL DAY"
