UNIQLO dance

32 Comments

The Hula Girls, a group of Hawaiian-style dancers from the Fukushima onsen resort of Iwaki, perform at an event to promote UNIQLO's new spring/summer lineup of "Color Skinny Fit Ankle Jeans," which will be sold in 12 countries. The concept of the new jeans, which cost 2,990 yen, is "Women! Have a colorful life!" UNIQLO said it will also sell colorful tops and accessories, too.

Too Colorful :(

The girls in the front row all came from the same egg.

or rather the United colors of Benetton 1987.

I could totally see the marketing execs in Honolulu/Tokyo yelling that wasted...“Women! Have a colorful life!...we are geniuses from the 80s...our country is still in the 80s!" Kompai. Kompai.

i see feet! and its no summer yet!! thanks JT.

I think Halloween masks would have been appropriate.

I like these girls. They are vibrant, relaxed yet upbeat, and girly-cute.

The clothes, not so much.

they are all over 30, no thanks

Nice change to see some one else other than AKB48 being used to promote something.

AKB48 been flogged to death promoting everything lately.

Looks really good. I especially love the orange pants. Japan's fashion has become way more colorful than other countries. Nowadays I feel bored with the fashion in Europe. Great job, Uniqlo.

Nice, they look a bit like Barbie doll band, but good nostalgia!

Looking away from the screen, I'm seeing flashing lights for a second or two.

The clothes are okay but the pompoms are too much for me. Makeup is a bit excessive but's it all part of the show, I guess.

@The_True

they are all over 30

Yeah, great isn't it! Yum yum!

The pants are nice. However, the shirts are not very flattering. They look like something they might have found in their grandmother's closet.

I like these girls -- they have a lot of heart, and are talented -- but the colour-scheme here is AWFUL.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I give them all full marks for being able to keep smile on their faces, given the fact that they aren't going to be putting up too many "No Vacancy" signs in Fukushima for the next 13,000 years.

UNIQLO is a unique firm that has had tremendous success. Now it is helping to cheer the hearts of people in Tohoko with colorful clothing and fun style. Surely they will be thankful of UNIQLO's efforts.

@ReformedBasher

they are all over 30 Yeah, great isn't it! Yum yum!

Please be respecctful of your hosts in Japan. Women of this age are married and happy mothers. Japan is not your sexy time playground.

Skinny jeans are bad on many. Coloured jeans are bad on many. Skinny coloured jeans? No thank you!

http://danieldiaztecles.blogspot.com/ Well I find a super cool group. Where can you watch the video?

One day, a japanese girl with her natural hair color will be thought of as... extremely original.

I have seen women over 30 who were attractive. Some. These are not them.

Sadly, young women are not into hula.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Hard to tell with all that makeup slathered on. Less is more, ladies.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

i feel so special today!! :) i get 15 vote down!!! i guess i hit where it hurts!! nothing wrong to be over 30, is just that....., never mind!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

What is all this about women over 30 not being sexy??? Have you lot been outside recently?

Jeeeez.

And yeah, good luck on getting being to sit in hot water up in Fukushima.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder TimeiClic. And some of us have more experience beholding than others, and therefore, truly know our tastes. Then you have the starving man effect, and I have not been there in a long, long time.

I have to agree that if they are trying to promote jeans they missed it by putting in too many whacky colors and too much makeup. But advertising is a tricky business. Maybe their target audience loves it?

Hot water for an onsen at Fukushima? I think TEPCO has a lot of that; but you might have to change your definition of "hot".

If you are 13 years old then this comment would make sense to me.

Anyway, these ladies are dancers and not really models so they shouldn't be judged too harshly. Regardless, they seem attractive to me despite their supposed advanced age. Uniqlo has this sort of Benetton thing so I understand the colors - that is what they are known for. I always wanted to check out the Iwaki hula dancers in person.

these ladies are simply... radiating

What makes you think I'm being disrespectful? One of those sexy Japanese women is married to me.

But if I was single, I would have no hestitation to chase after a lady who I was attracted to, Japanese or not, it does not matter. No disrespect whatsoever, I consider myself an old-fashioned gentleman.

The blouses are not nearly as lovely as these ladies smiles.

@j4p4nFTW

I’m getting angry at what might be a misunderstanding.

I don’t approve of bad behaviour to women.

I don’t approve of racism but I know there are some foreigners with bad attitudes towards Japanese women. I assure you I am not one of them.

All readers back on topic please. The subject is UNIQLO's new line of jeans and the Hula Girls. Nothing else.
