Miss Japan Itai is one very beautiful person with a fantastic look. Japan has finally found a very beautiful person to be represent it`s country in the Miss Universe Pageant. I hope she is as smart as she looks.

She has an "egg" head for cryin out loud. And you can see the pads in her bikini top from miles away ! Sorry- I've seen better... and I'm willing to go out on a stubby little branch here and declare that Miss Japan has no chance at Miss Universe !

You'd think in a contest of this import, that they could come up with a better fitting bikini bottom! This cut/style is unflattering. On a positive note, I'm glad these young women are not getting on the "breast implant" bus...

I love women, but IMO on a scale from 1-10 these two are 6's. both not very pretty at all.

Now, QUESTION for the DAY. Which one can hold a conversation, an interesting one--NOT a banal one--for more than 10 minutes? Bets anyone? Can they like talk about history, politics, or PHILOSOPHY, or art, or good music or science, or poetry or literature or technology or gardening or architecture or good cuisine, or even good wine (not screwtop mind you)? My bet is that they can only do fashion, cosmetics, and beauty-contest related crap. Yeah! Victory for all women. What role models, huh?

They could be extremely beautiful... if they gained 10 or 20 lbs. Right now, they are way too thin, they don't look healthy. They look like twigs that would break if you tried hugging them.

The idea that, to be pretty, a woman needs to lose weight is false. Women need to look healthy and fit, a little fat can even make them prettier. They shouldn't eat little, they should eat well and exercise... in fact that's a good advice for men too.

I met Itai-san last month. Absolutely gorgeous in real life, this photo doesn't do her justice, but it ain't bad. Agree with Tamarama.

The Angola babe has a nice rack, and Itai-san has an average face for a Japanese woman, which means she is good looking for the most part. But, her body is no "Miss Universe" material.

Most of the girls attending the Miss Universe competition look like mixed races(miss japan included) and they all got similar bodies and faces.

You need to read the sashes now to know where a Miss comes from.

Whatever happened to the concept of "Woman's curves"? Are they running for Miss Universe or Miss Toothpick? As overpopulated as this country is.... I've seen dome drop dead gorgeous gals. This was the best?! First and foremost, a woman is supost to have curves. Bad pic, bad choices. 2 thumbs down, if I had 4 hands it would be 4 thumbs down.

these competition are for airheads - both men and women. Men who watch them are boring and cannot keep an interesting conversation either.

People often say that I am all thumbs, so I will do it for you. Let me see, the one on the left is 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag. The one on the right needs a sandwich. For me, if a woman can stand with feet together, her knees should not touch one another and there should be no daylight from the waist down.

But hey, if she had a winner of a personality, I would let it slide. People should just be healthy or at least look healthy. It gets harder to do that as we get older, but hey... this is a beauty pageant.

I will save my 'thumbses down' (thumbs downs?) for the "standard of beauty" that most people are apparently using.

To me neither girls looks natural, just sculpted either by excessive diet, exercise or Cosmetic surgery.

Once told a lady-friend that wanted bigger boobs to add some weight on her skinny frame and they come naturally and told her to exercise to keep them trim and in shape.

It is laughable than so many guys on this board are critical. Honestly, are you doing that much better? Doubtful. I have seen many gajiin with Asia/foreign women here in Japan and about 1 in 10 has chick as hot as the ones above.

Now, your woman may be a genious and/or a great talker. But let's not assume she is in the same boat as these two looks wise.

Even if you see me as stupid and ugly, it is much better to be such than a pervert like some other people writing here their offensive comments which is the worst ever. This competition is political, every year they decide that a certain nation or race should win. It has nothing to do with phycical or internal beauty.

Interestingly enough isn't there a worldwide movement to prevent models from becoming too skinny as no-one likes them.

And that is what most guys here are saying, add some pounds, get some curves, etc and they will look better.

Marylin Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, etc were not skinny and are still sexy today.

Also beauty comps ratings been dropping for years.

These women are "beauty pagent contestants". By definition they made the choice to be subjected to public opinions. They each think they are better looking than their competition and they need a win to prove it.

There's nothing wrong with looking at and commenting about people who want you to look and comment about them.

@dano2002 beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their ideal beauty in mind. These women just aren't beautiful in my opinion and happily I have been with women much better looking and with great personalities too.

Zenny. You and I are peas in a pod. And might I suggest Betty Paige. Beauty IS only skin deep, but I think Betty really did have it all, and she was real through and through. There were others of course, but Betty had a lot of good clean fun with her looks.

Also, Thin people doesn't necessarily mean that they have no fat. People that diet (don't eat much) generally have a high body fat percentage. The two in the picture don't look physically fit either.

If I met Itaichan in the real world she would melt my sneakers. To bad for her though, Miss Columbia or Miss Panama or Miss Brazil will probally win. Most of the time a Latin American country wins Miss Universe.

Both could probably benefit from gaining about 5 pounds. But to be fair to them just a bit, they both look like they're "sucking it in" for the camera. Miss Angola looks like she's holding her breath, just from her posture.

Miss Japan either was caught at "not her best" angle or else her face is oddly angular. 5 pounds. That's all. It would fill out her cheeks a bit.

@dano2002, lol believe what you will but the way these women are posing shows pretty much what they think of themselves. FYI I have been in the modeling business myself (as a model) and I know that most of these women try to "show off" their idea of sex appeal. They may not be shallow but I can assure you they're quite vain and concieted as this photo shows. And since you did bring it up 5 years ago my missus was a contestant in the Ms. Hong Kong pageant due to her mother's prodding. She didn't want to do it so she intentionally botched the interview by acting really really shy. It was quite hilarious.

In any case, it will be a hard future for both of them. Now that they are celebrities, they will want the GOOD, GOOD, GOOD life. But after their 1 year of fame, unless they are very creative in landing some movie role, it will be downhill. That means less and less money. So, they will just have to marry some rich guy that always, ALWAYS has lots and lots of money to satisfy them. Good luck with that, especially in these times ladies.

You should see photos of Itai when she was in the competition to become Miss Japan. Way skinnier. She actually went to the gym to gain muscle for the Miss Universe competition. Know what you're talking about before you comment.

This is very good picture showing the real Differance , I have seen so many so called Beautifull japanese Faces , no sharp features at all them but the unic japanese color. Now you realize why Japanese Woman Hate Sun even The Obaa-san

I gotta agree, with all the gorgeous Japanese women you see simply walking the street, many of them would beat out Ms. Itai and have a much better chance of winning.
