sorry, but wheres the austrains?

Fashion Alert: The photographer at the left is wearing WHITE SOCKS/TIGHTS with a DARK PANTS SUIT.
That said, I think these events are remnants of the Meiji Restoration when so-called refined social traits were eagerly adopted by Japanese nobility and European manners and dress became a standard in Japan, displacing the Japanese equivalent. It looks like the dancers are having fun. That is nice.

I saw Austrians are playing musical instruments in the photo. They are not dancing.

It looks a bit slow and staid for my taste. When I lived in China one of the few forms of entertainment was dance parties. So I did a lot more classical dance, as opposed to contemporary, in Asia then I ever did closer to where it was invented. One of my favorite pieces of accompanying music was "Die Lorelei," precisely because you can go very fast, almost as if you are on ice skates.

Paid dancers? All of the women seem top be wearing one of two dress designs...

Where's Bruce Forsythe? Is this the warm up for S"trictly".
AlfGarnett
I agree with watershed, you can't have one of these events without Forsythe's presence.
Looks bloody boring to me though, i always hated all that dancing in the old days.

Athletes> good spot, but my point is that is the ball is about ties with Austria then shouldn't the dancing be mixed?
