This picture reminds me of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. It's isn't as bad, but it's bad. I hope no one was swept out to sea. The bald spots shown make me shudder.

Not that its any better, but what can be seen there seems to be earthquake and fire damage, not from a Tsunami.

This a several blocks area that was completely devastated by fires caused by the major quake.
My fear is the casualty count is going to grow exponentially once recovery crew can get in their to find and recover the bodies of victims that would not or could not escape, not mention the likely many, many rural areas in the mountains that have yet to be reached by rescue teams.

Wajima's traditional lacquer industry will have been badly hit. In one news shot I saw lacquered trays scattered around in the ruins of the burnt-out locality. It's possible that vats of lacquer even fed the flames.
