look at a poster on the wall instead....

Do the characters on the poster really need masks? Talk about normalising insanity.

Right! Please stop normalizing masking in ads. It is not normal, and actually dystopian and off-putting. Needed more is a cute campaign ("Let's GoFace", for instance), and a mask-free cartoon character. Fits the Japanese culture, so why not?

Nice PSA.

a) I agree, on the platform, it’s dangerous; be careful(!); b) do they really need to add masks to the animated characters(!)?(smh)

Love the masks. Gets people's attention!!!

Yes agree with the message of the poster.

Using smartphones while walking on platforms needs to be an offense. It is dangerous for everyone. I have never felt the need to do it in over 10 years.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Totally agree with the poster except for the anti-social face covers.

He’s only taking a picture of her, no?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Put retired old men and women to work. Give them sticks to beat people into submission. That'll learn 'em.

Remember back in the days when train stations didn't have gates on the platforms. It's nearly impossible to do without them these days because so many people have their faces buried in their smart phones while walking. We would have people falling onto the tracks on a daily basis.

I think the real solution is to not allow people to this PERIOD. It's not only hazard to themselves but its a hazard to others too.

Just follow the rules and be nice..

to not be looking down at your mobile phone while walking is not a rule, it’s common sense.

don’t expect me to get out of your way if you can’t be bothered to look up at where you’re going - I’ll be dropping the shoulder

People glued to their phones won't see the poster.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

An unmasked, grumpy, alcohol smelling oyaji would be more likely to call you out for texting or using your smartphone while walking. Not a high school girl.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I have never felt the need to do it in over 10 years.

Really? You don't know what you're missing.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Absolutely concur with the message!

If you must, stop and sideline to do whatever you have to with the phone.

Tired of people starring down, walking and bumping into each other.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I'm sure everyone who walks while staring at their smartphones will pay close heed to message.

Anyway, smartphones are not the problem, people not paying attention is. Got rammed into by a woman just this afternoon while shopping because she was staring at a shopping list while walking and pushing her cart. If I said the shopping list was on her smartphone, people would nod and say "That figures!" and what not, but how about the fact that in this case it was written down, on paper? Where's the poster saying not to walk and look at memos? Saw a teacher trip while walking around doing san-kanbi visits to students' homes and looking at a paper map of the neighborhood. Should we make posters saying don't look at maps while walking? Lots of people do it, but we don't say a word unless it's Google maps -- then it is wrong and they are putting themselves and others in danger.

Poster is misleading.

It's not only students who are glued to their phones, you have people of all ages acting as if they are the only human beings in the world. I remember when I still rode trains, even turned down/off whatever I'm listening just to focus on getting in/off the train, not that hard but it was a bit disgusting seeing people still glued to their phones (ears/eyes) precisely while hopping on the packed morning train like if its nothing.

I'm in my middle 30s now, just too old (and foreign?) to go around educating people in their 30s on how to be considerate and live in society. Will never catch these morning trains ever again, quality of life 0!

Nice to see this isn't in English for once.

The Japan Tobacco smoking manner signs are still the best.
