Crows stop everywhere in the world.

Lovely, majestic birds.

I've never seen a dead crow.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Japan's crows are nasty and belong in the jungle, not cities like Tokyo.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Good shutter timing. But, freaky, unwelcome birds in a city.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Jungle Crows get such a bad wrap, the more you watch them the more interesting they are though.

not cities like Tokyo

I always thought Tokyo was a jungle anyways.

Greatly timed pic! Congrats!

Crows are so much part of the Tokyo environment for me. Fascinating birds but also spooky. add character. noisy too, but so are cicadas and what would a Tokyo summer be without them?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

There was a crow that lived till age 59 in New York according to the Washington Post.

Nice composition. :P

Beautiful.

What's all this about crows being 'spooky'? The word is 'majestic'.

Really? There are people who like city crows? Filthy, disgusting, murderous birds.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Spooky? They are always shown in horror or gothic type mpvies. Harbingers of death or soething evil. A muder of crows is their compund. Their creepy cawing call. I could go on.......

@AKBfan

Them's ravens.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

A murder of ravens? Aren't crows and ravens both of the genus "corvidae"? Thinking about it, the vampires in Underworld were Corvinus, weren't they?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Same genus, sure, but the Gothic horror story emblems were ravens. And you're right, it's a "murder" of crows but a "flock" (or "unkindness") of ravens; different creatures : )

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's a 'murder of crows' and an 'unkindness of ravens'. Both birds get a bad rap.

The crows that hang around the trees in the Hama Rikyu gardens near Shiodome were fantastic. 'Majestic' is right (but 'spooky' is not wrong..).

I don't like them, but I see from this pic there is some beauty in them.

I spotted a dead one lying on a sidewalk once, and just as I walked clear of it another one dropped from the sky on the exact spot where I was moments ago. That was pretty scary and spooky. I wonder if there was anything in the sky that brought those birds down that day.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Ok, I won't carry on "raven" about how scary they can be. I will have to eat "crow" on my ignorance of the disttinction between corvidae. They are clever too. sit in Shinjuku Koen or at Kokyo and feed them and watch what tye get up to - full of nonsense.

All fun and majestic games till a colony moves into your neighborhood. Out go the nice twittering songbirds and entertaining squirrels and HELLO 5:00am wake up cawing, garbage ripped apart and bird crap everywhere.

Am currently battling these wing-ed demons with bottle rockets. Seems to be working.

Japanese crows are massive!

doesn't the one on the left belongs to Tonto's Hat???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like crows. And ravens. Very clever. Maybe like dolphins, they are running the world for our benefit?

Karas, Japanese National Bird?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's quite strange how many of the insects and crows are huge in Japan compared to many other places. A few years back, we had a problem with the crows swooping down at people as if they were going to attack on base in Atsugi. But other than that, they can be a real cool animal to watch.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Crows can be a pain in the butt when it comes to tearing open garbage bags, making a lot of noise, and swooping down on people (haven't heard of it of late, but still), but they are quite beautiful and definitely remarkable creatures.

"majestic birds"

They are nothing more than big, black noisy chickens.
