@MyTimels. Aren't they posing for another photographer? This photo seems like a random shot. Anyway, they look great.

How beautiful they look! I wish them both a life full of happiness...( and many children too)

Nice photo. I just like traditional outfits like these. I hope the photographer does at least two sets: one in color like this and another in black-and-white/faded sepia tone for a classic effect. With DSLRs that shouldn't be difficult.
Best wishes to the couple.

Beautiful picture and I bet the one taken by the photographer hired by the couple would have been even better.
Those fixated on the person in the background should realize that the JT photographer is different from the one whom the couple is posing for.

I've taken a lot of this type of photo, all over Japan, including Shinto weddings and processions, and I can say unequivocally, I love them! And my favourite is of a couple where the new husband exploded with the most joyous face and laughter while his wife tried to keep hers straight (which didn't quite work and turned out 100% cute). This is a good part of Japan. A very good part.

MyTimeIsYourtime - you forgot to say Bah humbug.
Every happiness to the new couple.

I don't know why everyone's fixed on the guy in the background, I didn't even notice him at first ! Just look at the happy couple !
I wore the same kind of "kimono+uchikake" and even a black wig ! Japanese hubby, however, wore "western style" for our Shinto wedding !.

I must say the colors of groom's attire resemble the colors of a white wagtail (Motacilla alba). Wagtails are known for wagging their tails... obviously.

Everything in a traditional Japanese wedding seems to revolve around the idea of composure and dignity, a moment where life and acting according to strict script and choreography converge.

Beautiful pic (save for the person in the background), and I wish the couple happiness.

The photo needs a lot of work. The balance is off. Right side needs to be cropped off. The two people are also tilted. Twist it clockwise 3 degrees please so they do not appear to be falling down. Use the special content aware filter device to eliminate that distracting guy in the back ground. I hope this is not the picture they will love and cherish until death.

Beautiful Kimono!
I have to disagree with the above posters , and though I can only speak from my own experience there is nothing 'fake' about the Western Style Weddings. They are simply Western Style, and always elegant affairs; rarely gaudy. Some other wedding planning companies here are putting on beautiful weddings too that are completely free of religious/cultural iconography. I think all three styles are great.
I do agree about the need to Photoshop out the lurker, LOL.

I have to agree

SweetPretzels15; most Japanese couples will do these photoshoots, and they most likely have nothing to do with the actual wedding ceremony. I did one with my wife almost 5 years after we married (because i had always wanted to do it even though our ceremony was held overseas). Hearing the "omedeto"s was nice but we felt we should apologise to those saying it. Other friends did their photoshoot 6 months before they actually put in the wedding papers!
Of course if they then go on to do a proper Shinto wedding, that would be awesome. Those style weddings are much more beautiful than the overly gaudy fake western style ceremonies they do here.

They'll have to photoshop the photobomber in the background though.

Great photo!

Congratulations on getting married! Hope the two of you gonna have a happy married life full of joy and laughter smoothing the knots and tangles of your life down the road.

Simply beautiful! Congratulations!
...now where's the open bar?
SweetPretzels15
They look nice together! It's good to see traditional weddings taking place in addition to western style ones in Japan.
