@Shonanbb - Maybe your lady friends were just jealous as someone else said. These ladies looked good to me - but I do have a strong preference for Japanese legs - they are just great.
Relax indeed people, it is clear that these aren't real women. Volkswaggen has had skinjob technology since the 80's.
Harrison Ford was called in to head the R and D after his BladeRunner experience.
Really, it is fine to objectify robots. They have no feelings. amirite?
At a time when we need to rapidly move away from fossil fuel consumption, we find here pictures promoting the automobile industry. There was a time when we believed, foolishly, that the news business had a social responsibility.
VW isn't the only automaker at Tokyo Motor Show who does this. Almost all of the companies do, and all the spokemodels line up at the end of the day to bow. Spokesmodels are a longstanding car show tradition, although in some countries that's falling out of favor. I'm a little on the fence about it myself. On one hand, I hate to see people objectified... on the other hand, I like seeing a beautiful lady as much as the next person. I suppose it comes down to how well the models are paid and how well they're treated by their agencies and by the visitors of the show. I've been to a lot of car shows in my life, but as a regular visitor and as press photographer, and I've mostly seen the models treated well, although I'm sure there are horror stories, as in every job.
I like that some auto manufacturers are including male spokesmodels as well, so everyone can see some eye candy and so that men can also feel that their looks are worth drooling over.
Sex sells, every company in the world knows this. Lets be honest: having a troop of "showboys" instead of leggy teen girls advertising these cars is just not going to appeal to those making the purchasing!
Yes, I am definitely more interested in buying a VW now. These ladies have restored my faith in the company!
I can almost forgive VW now...! just trying to make there cars look better than they actually are. Its going to take a lot more than window dressing to get them out of the poo there in now.
And so Japan's objectification of women continues unabated. No surprise, as long as Japanese women are prepared to allow themselves to be eye candy for drooling morons it will continue. Sad. it demeans us all...
you're not alone harvey, that's why the korean girls beat the japanese 1000x anytime, even walking they show their abundant confidence. Compared with the subservient bowlegged japanese...
Hhmmm, I prefer the show girls that look less subservient. The stronger more confident "look at me" sassy girls to me are more appealing than the "tell me what to do" robotic girls. That's just me.
But that guy behind them getting out of the red car disagrees. Get that eye candy.

Quite beautiful. SHowed the image to some American women friends and they all thought the thigh gap was disgusting. Why?

Who says they're all Japanese? Nice assumption, though. Says you're not at all biased.
In any case, this is pretty typical... "We screwed up... here are a bunch of subservient, beautiful women!"

Volkswagen has some smart marketers - if there's anything that will draw people to their booth right now, this is it.

Well, according to a recent study women buy 52% of all new cars sold and influence more than 85% of all car purchases.
So, maybe next time it'll be raining men! Bye-bye subservient girls waiting for me to tell you what to do!
