Man, I remember going to see her as a second billing to Billy Ocean back in about 1985. Time flies!

yEAHHH !!!! Whitney's back !!!!!

She had one of the best voices in the entertainment industry. It is so sad to hear the current state of her voice. She sounds no better than Mary J Blige, a fellow former junkie. Very very sad.

Whitney Houston's "Nothin' But Bobby's Bills To Pay" tour in Saitama Arena.

You know you have hit rock-bottom as an entertainer when you have to come to Japan for a booking...

Whitney in Saitama. Perfect.

The Whitney and Mariah days are over. Let the curtain down.

Why is a woman with such a reputation for hard-core drug abuse allowed to play in an arena in Japan?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The only non-Japanese artist to top the Oricon charts.

The Super Arena gets big international names but it will never have the prestige of the Budokan

Tatanka: you have no idea do you?

She's finally over her drug problem. The rumors were that she was just a few hours away from death at some point. I'm a big fan, although I couldn't go to this concert. She has a very very good raw (as in not computer-processed) voice. I wish she'd sing more acapella style...

Interesting how some of you just focus on her drug problems, which are behind her. She still has a great voice and is very popular in Japan, though she certainly won't reach the heights of her "Bodyguard" days.

Moderator: Readers, please do not rehash talk of Houston's old drug problem. It is not relevant to this discussion.

Are you serious Moderator? How can you put a picture of Whitney Houston performing in Japan for the first time in 13 years, on a "news and discussion" site, and say talk of her allegedly old drug problems are not relevant?

Moderator: Because it isn't. Why don't you discuss her music, her latest album, her world tour, her popularity in Japan, her costume, what the concert was like, and so on? There is no need to rehash dirt on people, which lowers the level of discussion. Why would you even want to mention it? That is just being malicious. And with that, we put an end to discussion of her alleged old drug problem.

Seriously guys, if the picture was of a young girl showing off her body and trying to do something silly, like kfc girl, shampoo ad girls or some silly dog accessory promoter you have such fantastic comments. But when it is a singer who did make some good music at a certain time you are nasty to her? Many people and especially loads of Jpeople love her songs. Yes, she did have some trouble in life. So what? I think most of us have did something that we would like to forget and start new. Even if it is to pay off the bills, it is commendable.

People, unless one is certifiably deaf, Whitney`s voice is gone. She had her day, and it is over.

Houston last performed in Japan 13 years ago.

Houston last desperately needed some cash and would do anything to get it 13 years ago.

Agree that Whitney's voice was one of the best in her prime. Obviously this is her last try.

46 and still a hotty! Noice!

The voice is still good.

Whitney is an artist. I hope her concert will be a testament to her talent- and that older vocalists got grit, spirit, and stories to tell... You GO girl!

I think the Japanese public don't really know her recent history. But you got to give her credit for getting over it and trying to make something from it.

The Whitney Houston 'nothing but hype' tour is sure to please the locals who seem to love overblown foreign 'stars' who can barely hack it back home

Go! Whitney!...everybody have a second chance...you're gonna make it and you will...you're the best!

I just assumed she was already dead. What a nice surprise!

To be honest with the rest of you I am pleased that Whitney Houston had a voice I did appreciate above so many of the later, in time, female vocalists, I just hope she goes over well in Japan & they like her as I did. Life has not always been a life of joy for her.

the irony that someone who made a career out of warbling about endless love ended up 46, single, numerous problems I can't talk about here, shilling herself for a bit of wonga.oh if only the bodyguard were real life, thta kevin costner was such a dreamboat.

watched the video. Yes, she is not what she used to be. The life of celebrities usually take unexpected turns. Sad though.

gogo, I did see the 40 year old Jguys dancing for music. Yes, akb48 moves alright. What do we do? These guys must learn to dance and sweat it out.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

womanforwomen: The difference is that the Jguys or akb48 never had any talent to lose in the first place.
