Soccer fans whoop it up in Tokyo's Shibuya district after the Japan-U.S. Olympic women's soccer final early Friday morning. Bars in the area were packed with fans watching the game which the U.S. won 2-1.

What's funnier - that this dude shaves his armpits, or gentleman on the left there clapping in laughter as he stares at the guy's groin.

As someone once said, "What makes this country so interesting is there is so much that is wrong."
paulinusa
Even Rooney made the scene.

YAAAAAAY! We lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stupid.

The guy who is being hoisted aloft does seem...ahem..."flamboyant" if you will! Good effort to this mob though - they must have been drinking solidly all night until the final whistle, that's a pretty good drinking marathon!
Cricky
Who needs girls? Boy on Boy action is the go? Grrrrrrrrr
JA_Cruise
Good sport dudes, or maybe they were secretly cheering for the U.S. team which clearly outplayed Nadeshiko this time. Good effort by Nadeshiko.
Hide Suzuki
I like that they are happy with silver medal, rather than being grumpy about not getting gold.
Blacklabel
that's just NUTS!
CrazyJoe
Japan won more than a gold medal.
nath
Better this than the scene we saw in vancouver when they lost the hockey or whatever

I love how the Japanese just are happy that they won "A" medal. They set a great example of sportsmanship.

I'm with Hide on this one. I was partly worried that once the ladies didn't win the gold talk about women's soccer would stop altogether, as it often does when they team Japanese fans are rooting for doesn't win. It's good to see people still cheerful, and even hear people talking about how well the women's soccer did despite not winning.
bass4funk: "The Canadians should see this, they could learn a thing or two from this."
The Canadian team won a medal as well, FYI, and seemed somewhat redeemed by it. Granted, they complained about the semi-final match, but rightly so -- the calls were atrocious and cost them a shot at the gold. If you want to talk complaints, though, you might want to keep in mind that the Japanese were among the teams decrying decisions -- mostly in Judo and boxing (or at least there was just more coverage of it).
Disillusioned
OK, so all this fuss is about women's soccer? I wonder how many of these 'die-hard sports fans' have actually ever seen a game of women's soccer prior to the Olympics. It's actually pretty depressing that they have to jump on any band-wagon so they can to get some joy. I guess, with the failing economy, the wake of TEPCO's disaster (Yes, TEPCO's) and the laughable state of Japanese politics they have to find a bit of joy where ever they can. Ganbatte!
Tokiyo
Early to jump into the assumptions I see - who said anything about being die-hard sports fans? Its just people having a bit of fun...
Disillusioned indeed.
LordPounce
I have to hand it to the Japanese, they make good sports fans. They go a little crazy but in a fun, non violent way.
Apsara
Women's soccer has been pretty big here over the last couple of years and a lot of people, guys included, follow the women's world cup games. A lot of the team members as well as the coach are well-known faces on TV these days.
Foxie
Way to go! Who wears gold anyway nowadays, completely out of fashion!
ben4short
JustAGoodOleBoy And what, pray tell, is wrong, in your humble opinion?
my2sense
Mama! I'm famous on a gaijin site butt naked!
bicultural
Try the World Cup.
Pukey2
Jesus, that naked guy desperately needs a tan.
I'll probably get a lot of thumbs down (who cares) but they should have been disqualified for what their coach did. However, I can't really deny that these footballers are some of the best out there. They have my respect, but one word of advice - when the presenters are giving you the medals on the podium, stop making stupid faces like a schoolboy, look at the presenter and shake his hands - there was absolutely no need to act so graceless. At least the captain and some others actually acknowledged the poor guy.
Exactly! I know they got silver, but for many Japanese, bronze is the new gold!
nath
Looks like he still got his panties on(You can see the line). Guess there are some areas where even the most fans won't venture.
Good for Japan but than they were guaranteed the silver anyway. Great sportsmanship shown from both sides.
Looking at the medal scores looks like my country AGAIN didn't send any athletes to compete.
sandiegoluv
I love UMBRELLA's comments on this.
I completely agree 100%. It seems to me that if you stayed up all night to watch this you are begging for something exciting to happen in your life. Make your own excitement. Staying up late to watch a bunch of people who do not even know you, nor you them, is just pure nonsense. Enjoy life. You don't need a bunch of people who you don't know to win something for you to have excitement. Good grief.
sandiegoluv
Moron alert!
sctaber56
Of ALL the possible pictures to run relating to Nadeshiko Japan's historic Olympic silver medal achievement, why THIS one depicting drunken frat boy-like behavior? Shameful at least.

Hee hee!

I am all for celebrating, but I am not all for naked dudes on my way to work in the morning that could cause accidents :P
Daijoboots
So much better than the bump-shove-grab-punch-go motion the 'big boys' can muster
Go Japan.
Aída Posadas
Weird, but they look happy indeed xD
TigersTokyoDome
I'd much rather have a night out with them than with you. Grumpy or what.
Consume my pain
They are fans just because they did well, just like the idiot with the Rooney shirt.
Where i come from we call them plastics. The girls should be supported even if losing most games as they used to. Also, support your local team, not one 9,000 KM away.
