Winter wonderland

The lobby of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo has been transformed into a white winter wonderland to reflect this year’s “Draw Your Happiness” theme as part of its annual holiday charity program. The Christmas trees decorated in white with ornaments are made from the hotel’s recycled wine and champagne corks, created by Re Kikou, a non-profit organization which employs people with disabilities. Guests can participate in decorating the trees by purchasing and hanging these charitable ornaments at the hotel. This year’s central color, white, signifies a fresh start, new beginnings and future possibilities – a blank canvas where each person has the power to “draw” their own happiness.

Along with non-profit organization Kids Earth Fund (KEF), the charity program features a beautifully-decorated lobby with photo spots and donation boxes, holiday hampers and charitable ornaments for sale to support people with disabilities, people displaced by conflict around the world as well as children in regions hit by devastating natural disasters. Meaningful ornaments such as themed tiles with images of children’s paintings from Kids Earth Fund are available for purchase at all restaurants, bars, the front desk, Grand Club and Nagomi Spa and Fitness at the hotel and all the proceeds will be donated to Kids Earth Fund.

Through Dec 25, the hotel is inviting guests and the local community to spread the cheer by participating in an SNS campaign by posting photos, or reposting any photos taken at Grand Hyatt Tokyo on their Instagram with the hashtags #GrandHoliday2020 and #GrandHyattTokyo and by following the hotel’s official Instagram account. Fiorentina Pastry Boutique will offer delightful holiday charity hampers, featuring recycled cork Christmas ornaments made by people with disabilities with the help of Re Kikou. The hampers include original sweets by award-winning pastry chefs, such as the classic panettone and colorful Christmas cookies – perfect for seasonal gifting. By purchasing the gift basket, guests will be making a charitable contribution that supports the employment of people with disabilities.
