Yukata Magic

Actress Emi Takei, 17, center, poses with models during an event by Japan's No. 1 retailer, AEON, to launch its 2011 summer yukata collection, in Tokyo on Wednesday. The new collection, "Yukata Magic," emphasizes elegance and comfort, including six varieties of a new stretch material, the retailer's latest innovation. During the event, Takei said that wearing yukata makes her proud to be Japanese, and that one day she would like to go on a "yukata date" with a boyfriend who talks a lot and doesn't get tired of listening to her. AEON will also air the campaign's new commercial featuring Takei from Thursday.

Models? She poses with models? And the one on the far right is a model? Or to Emi's right? That's a model?

Nice bit of pabulum there. I'm glad I don't have to play dress-up to respect my heritage.

Good luck with that lol!

She looks more "westernize" than most north american asian girls I've seen. It looks like the term 'models' was VERY loosely used in this case.

Looks like "rectangualar cube" bags are in fashion this summer.

She wants a boyfriend who talks a lot and likes listening to her talking endlessly.... well, better not advertise that condition too much, I don´t think there are many takers.

Curious, are those yukatas even made in Japan?

Maybe it was the moment that the photographer caught, but Emi looks the least comfortable of all the ladies in the image. Having said that, the materials in the yukatas are very nice.

Got to agree with SpanishEyes. If your date likes talking, they generally aren't good listeners.

"a boyfriend who talks a lot and doesn't get tired of listening to her"

I'd hate to hear a conversation between her and her boyfriend.

I think the kimono with the black background and red flowers is the most outstanding.

For Yugata or kimono, Japanese women may choose colors based on occasions because colors have important meanings to the wearers and people around. For Takei's comment about her Yugata date and her boyfriend, I can say she is right because it is her love affair. He can talk a lot, and in turn to listen to her as well. That is a two-way communication in a modern society. Wearing a Yugata is a pride for both men and women. I saw many ladies wearing yugata or kimono, even it was not holidays. But they want to preserve Japan's culture and tradition. Fashion clothes have different beauty, but Yugata and kimono are also beautful on Japanese women.
