This festival has been going for years. I've not been but most coverage I've seen on local tv has focused on lanterns made of washi or bamboo on the temple approach or that area. Its not just love hotel lighting of the temple itself.

My first impressions? Just why? Awful purple, detracting not adding to the temple’s natural beauty. Yuck.
