This week on the Kong Show, we ham it up. Write something nice about dad and win a 4-kilogram HoneyBaked Ham courtesy of Paul Kraft and the folks at Toranomon Ham KK.

Each HoneyBaked Ham is hand-selected for leanness, smoked up to 24 hours, then spiral-sliced to the bone so each tender, juicy slice is easy to serve. They are then glazed here in Japan after arriving from the U.S.

My father spent 36 years in the Army yet he is always there for me. Sports games, school events, everything. He taught me honor, hard work and dedication not only by his words but with his never-ending loving actions. He's the model I base my adult life on.

My father is an ordinary person with ordinary personality. He did mistakes, he hurt his family too. Yet, he had good intentions to fix his ill-conducts. His being he, himself for his family grows me into a human with humanity. It makes him special and irreplaceable.

The memory that sticks out most of my dad is that of him busy working his tools in the garage during one of his frequent breaks from work (this was when he used to work out of our home) putting together some big play toy or another. In the Japanese tradition (and probably most of other Asian traditions), he never verbally and explicitly expressed his affection for me and my siblings but through a lot of his creations like our indoor slide, seesaw, swingset. I guess I have inherited this trait of his - I am in many ways my father's son.

A great way to celebrate Fathers Day Kong-san. My father was a military man that met my mother in Okinawa and I was probably one of the first Hapa's on the island. We traveled extensively due to his assignments and during elementary school he became a single father raising two children. We followed him thru Japan, Korea, Thailand, Guam, San Francisco, Kentucky, Italy and Germany... all the while he did his best to not burn our dinner as cooking was not his specialty. I most remember he gave up an opportunity for promotion so my sister and I could finish out our high school years in Germany. Always selfless and always there for us unconditionally. He is a quiet strong minded Sicilian from the Bronx with a heart of gold. Just a few words about my pops. My best to all the fathers out there. Mahalo.

My dad, who taught me when I was a little girl, why I had to be honest, to whom I should show my sincere consideration, when I should gather up my courage and do the right things, and where I should come back to when I got hopelessly lost, is still working hard as a doctor to save lives... although he's at the age of 81. Love you, dad!

Honestly, my dad was not the ideal father because he was into gambling, smoking and often a womanizer during his younger years. The ways of the wind totally changed because he underwent dialysis due to kidney failure for almost 9 long years. He passed away almost two years ago. It was hard for me to accept that he is gone now but I can proudly say that Im his proud son because I will never forget that he brought me up in the most descent manner. Happy Fathers Day Dad!

OK, here is the message to my father

Papa, you were so quiet, so serious and so stubborn when I was a child. I wanted to marry a guy not like you. But my husband is very serious, stubborn. He is also so honest and sincere just like you, Papa.
