40% back Abe-proposed approach to revise pacifist Constitution: poll

This guy putting Japan back on a path to war..Really don't like him.

Let us take a close look at these numbers:

First:

40% are supportive of an approach Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has proposed . The last poll on the subject said 25%. An increase of 15% points.

This also means that they are open to other ways to Change the law.

Second,

63 percent responded that they think amending the Constitution is required, or somewhat necessary if they dare to choose, against 36 percent that did not see the need for it.

More good news. This means that the Japanese people now agree that some change is needed.

Finally,

Opinion was split over whether Article 9 should be revised, with 47 percent believing there is no need, while 45 percent said it would be necessary.

Great news!. This means the Japanese people are now open to changing the article 9

What does this all mean? It means the PM Abe is making progress in changing the Japanese people minds about the Article 9 and the Constitution.

Why did it take over a month to find 3000 people to represent the entire population, and what does “gave valid responses” mean?

As much as I hate to say it, it seems rather foolish to live in a dangerous neighbourhood, like Japan does, without the capabilities to properly defend itself.

Japan always seems to be increasing spending on its military, which doesn't look too shabby at the moment, so I fail to see how it lacks the capabilities to properly defend itself.

But Japan can't afford the remilitarization; pacifism is the best form of self-defense in the light of deteriorating government finances. The worst thing Japan can do is to give its neighbor an excuse to declare war on Japan.

Japan will plead with Trump that Japan can't raise its defense spending further against the Trump's pressure to double the spending. If Japan could afford the remilitarization, then doubling the defense spending under Trump pressure would be perfectly justified, right? But this is not the reality. Japan just can't keep up with China and Korea in arms race.

Japan seeks to resist US pressure on military spending

Japan is already spending as much as 1.3 per cent of gross domestic product on national security, the country’s defence minister has insisted, as Tokyo seeks to resist pressure from the US for a massive rise in military spending.

The minister’s comments are unlikely to do much to placate US president Donald Trump, given the 3.6 per cent of GDP spent by the US, but they highlight the pressure Japan is under ahead of a state visit by Mr Trump in May.

Two words: no war.

Three words: down with imperialism.

54 percent said they were opposed to it

So the majority of Japanese oppose crossing out the Article 9, yet Abe san intends to ignore the will of Japanese majority and go ahead with it.

This means 60% are opposed to revision.
