Liar,liar......pants on fire.

Just to think this specimen introduced 'Moral Education' into Japanese schools.

The irony of it all probably lost on the majority.

I don't particularly like Abe but at least I give him credit for apologizing, something many other politicians refuse to do in any shape or form.

By that yardstick then it is ok to steal other people’s money?

What an awful example for the majority of honest Japanese people....

Like I've said before...one rule for the ruling elite and another for the general public.

The ruling class gets away with bloody murder!

So he is correcting his lying? Just what a leader is made of? Wouldn’t follow him into a toilet, but it seems many would.

@Reckless,

Love nearly all of your comments.

But you are digging yourself into a grave here.......there simply is no defending this silver-spooned daimyo.

He has lied, lied and lied again.

He has treated the Japanese population with nothing more than disdain and contempt.

He utterly doesn't care who he throws under the bus..........just look at that dude who was forced to use 'sontaku' as a reason for obeying his boss before killing himself.

Abe and his brethren are the reasons why Japan is doomed and moribund.

Nothing ever changes with the political families in charge.......look at the moron,Abe for an example of that.

People ask what Abe has done well and having lived in Japan longer than many of you I would say the following:...

What follows isn't all that impressive given that he was in charge for eight years and had solid Diet majorities.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

He struggled to explain why he was able to file detailed updated funding reports even though he says his office does not have the underlying receipts for the parties.

Oh dear, he’s not at it again is he? I hope he didn’t tell any porkies during his appearance to apologise from the bottom of his heart for unknowingly telling porkies.

Perhaps the prosecutors should charge abe & get him a room for 23days & you know get him to fess up some more, he is guilty of a LOT more than cherry blossom parties I can tell you that! Hell his wife probably can beat that!

Those beat-up skanky chairs in the Diet are the perfect symbol for the LDP.

Probably looked nice to begin with, but nobody bothered to imagine how they would look a few years down the road. Now worn out, old and need replacing.

Looking again at the photo, they’ve put rugs over the tables too. I guess they ran out of hiding spaces after years of sweeping scandals under the carpet.

To quote Morrissey, You lied about the lies that you told / Which is the full extent of what being you is all about

4 ( +4 / -0 )

A lying liar who knows he'll get away with anything because he's got the backing of the US State Department. This entire charade is just a chabangeki.

Suga is being setup... Abe left the picture to let Suga take the blame for the economy

After telling 118 porkies in the Diet over the LDP Cherry Blossom party, Abe's nose couldn't get any longer but, as a denizen of the Nagatacho swamp, he's not at all self-conscious and perfectly capable of using his ham acting talent to put on a show of (fake) humility and perform the expected ritual of an apologetic mea culpa, which is just a piece of cake when you know you have the entitled immunity of one of the "Untouchables" (above the law, natch).

The prosecutors office has already decided not to charge Abe. But that's not really the end as the case can be brought and reviewed at 検察審査会 or the Committee for Inquest of the prosecution (whose function is similar to the US/UK grand jury). On the committee's request (twice) addressing probable cause, the prosecutor then MUST charge the suspect.

In my view, the charge is more likely through the process above while a guilty verdict is hard to get in reference to the past similar cases. It's only about the legal level. Politically, it may have some impact.

Atleast, he apologized. I know of 4 Japanese men who cannot do WHAT Mr Abe did The worst of the 4 cannot even say thank u and this Japanese man is less than 60 years old.

White elephant in the room where ever he goes. A liar by any other name. Abe san. Historically remembered as a liar.

This is such a trivial scandal I fail to see what the big deal is. In some countries the leaders use the countries lead foreign and domestic law enforcement agencies to defeat their out of power political opponents. This is a nothing burger.

Never mind some countries, in Japan what Abe did is a crime. I suppose that's okay with you though, given his solid right-wing credentials. I bet you would be less forgiving if he was one of "The Left" (boo hiss).
