Instead of "praising" Trump Abe should be taking him to task for the way he dissed the Japanese journalist who stood up at the last White House press tantrum to ask a question. Visibly rattled by the results of the midterms an irascible Trump brusquely asked: "Where are you from?" "Japan", he replied, whereupon a seething, stony-faced Trump turning away without answering his question, gave him the cold shoulder, muttering "Say hello to Shinzo". After this jaw-droppingly rude and unhinged performance from the orange lout from Queens what more proof do we need to acknowledge that Trump is daily demeaning the office of POTUS and must be removed from office ASAP.

So Radio Taiso, started with touch your toes!

Lol what a sycophant.

Was Abe wearing kneepads when he performed his (nationally humiliating) obligatory oral worship of the American psychopath?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

he lost house representatives in midterm election so there is nothing to congratulate. this will definitely hurt gop.

Abe san would praise Trump even if Trump shot someone on the 5th avenue like he bragged before his presidency.

Do you know that I could go down to the morgue, get 5 dead bodies , warm them up , put them in chairs.. and they would have more personality than these lot.

"Hey, congratulations on not losing the whole shebang! Too bad you had to do it with blatant racism, and stoking hatred among your white supporters for everything not white. Don't worry, you can always fly to mother Russia if things get too hot for you in America!"

To praise the vile things Trump said at his segregated rallies is disgusting.

Nothing wrong with PM Abe calling Trump on a great election result.

Which election result are you talking about?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

10 minutes talk ? Lied. For two people to talk, each get 5 minutes, then take translation time out, only 2.5 minutes left, then because delay across ocean, another 1 minute. Each person only got 1.5 minutes to talk, maximally. No wonder only one sentence message transmitted, no more than that.

Nothing wrong with PM Abe calling Trump on a great election result. They are very close and on the same page on many issues, for example Defense. The close relationship benefits Japan.

Well done Trump, Well Done!

Its funny but I can not see the big goldfish eyes of Abe, maybe it's the lack of light.

Why is this news? Abe calls Trump...

NEXT!

Is that a wax-museum in the photo? Aso looks like he's taking his advice a few years back to the elderly (to solve the pension problem) a little more seriously these days.

Anyway, hope Abe remembers congratulating him on a good job when Trump either resigns for refusing to hand over his tax returns or is impeached.

Aso looks PO-ed.

PM Abe be like ‘yoku gambatta ne Don-chan’

This photo reminds me so much of the lounge of an old people’s home I visited many years ago! All the old dears sat around the edge of the room in grumpy silence.

Went directly to comments on this. I knew would be more interesting than the article by far

Did Trump pretend he couldn't understand what Abe (or his translator) was saying?

What a weird photograph!

A really unhappy bunch! It shows just how out of touch with their public they are. They can't even be bothered to smile for the camera!

That kind of photo is pretty much the standard. I think they believe the public will see them as more authoritative and dignified if they all sit there looking constipated.

How much hair dye was used in that photo?

'The Usual Suspects' seated.....

I suggest all and sundry take a closer look at the origin procedures and the customs and trade facilitation within the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

There are clear quotas based on a points system that allocate grants to companies that facilitate there supply chain within the USA .

"I tell him all the time that Japan doesn't treat the United States fairly on trade," said Trump, adding, "They send in millions of cars at a very low tax. They don't take our cars."

Someone needs to educate Trump on economics. Japan's auto market is tiny and oversaturated compared to the states. You can't honestly expect to sell as many cars there as they do in the states. If American makers started making kei cars, maybe they would do better.

Inspiring looking bunch.  Trump's "efforts" in Mid Terms certainly deserving of Funzo's praise.

The Japanese side is hoping to seek an amicable settlement of the trade issue by leveraging the strong ties between the two leaders.

Very strong ties between Abe's lips and Trump's cheeks.

Brown-nosing sycophant.

couldn't agree more. This is really bordering on the lines of pathetic.

Then Trump thanked him back for being a great friend and ally. Next day Trump jumps on Twitter and rips Japan/Abe for unfair trading. Same news, different day.
