Better to encourage peace than to fan the flames.

Serrano:

All countries have some sort of ban on something. Apparently, based on the news about Saudis expulsion, Saudis probably allow kiddie prn - which is banned in most countries. Alcohol, prn (adult and/or kiddie), and/or some books are banned in nearly all countries.

About journalists killings, I'm amazed at the amount of evidence given here against MbS.

Peacemaker Abe. Cynics aside this is PM Abe in round one of his Global Moment. He may actually be a calm voice for reason in a region on a tinderbox. A bit of Japanese ‘gaman’ and cool headed pragmatism may be just what these blokes need to hear right now. Once emotions take hold things get dangerous. Abe, the stage is yours. Play well.

Conflict with Iran impacts the entire world. Duh. Stating the obvious sure makes you look brilliant. And sitting next to MBS all smiles is great for peace in the world. You should have stayed in Japan and saved tax payers' money.

A murderer and a questionable PM.

Dialogue with a demagogue.

There's an economic bigger picture hidden somewhere in the back. The Saudis want to keep Iran oil out of the scene. They tried to publicly float the world's biggest company - the Saudi Aramco -in an attempt to diversify their economy. Problem is, they overvalued the company and because they weren't steadfast in book keeping, experts called them out.

The US, with a petrodollar based currency is joined at the hip with Saudi, and they need a few more years to hold Iran down so the Saudis can rectify the Aramco mess before making the company public.....for lots of money. Until then, Iran, with its national - as opposed to multi-corporation - sweet, cheap, easily extractable oil would have to be suppressed - by any means necessary - till the Saudi-US objectives materialize, and heck, any mis-step can cause them to lose it all in a " bringing-democracy-and-freedom-to-the-people-of-Iran " adventure by the US..ala Iraq, ergo Libya etc. The lesser evil is palatable, I'd think.

Sitting next to a murderer does wonders for your image.

Sitting next to murderers is part of the job description among political leaders. In fact, being a murderer is for many of them. Has any US president not killed people?

MBS and Abe look pretty comfy in those smoking robes. All they need are a couple of cigars and a couple of glasses of... wait, MBS isn't allowed to have any kind of alcoholic drink.

Actually, the elites in that part of the world knock back the booze like it's going out of style, if and when they want to.

Abe looks like he is begging and the prince laughing.

Any body who eases tension in the Middle East at this moment in time for what ever reason is a good thing.

Ya don't say!

MBS and Abe look pretty comfy in those smoking robes. All they need are a couple of cigars and a couple of glasses of... wait, MBS isn't allowed to have any kind of alcoholic drink. And that's because of the religion that is imposed on everyone who is born to a Muslim father. Jeez...

Abe taking cue from his China buddy Emperor Xi, nice smiles but speaks with a forked tongue.
