not very 'inclusive' guys...
how about.... the first blind paraplegic coloured trans woman with ADHD, on the moon?
kurisupisu
Kishida is like a leopard that changes its spots every time he is outside Japan.
No mask, conversations on equality and inclusivity, continually shaking hands, sightseeing etc.
He must be suffering a severe psychological disconnect by now?
dagon
A one party state and a country with a powerful alt-right fundamentalist faction a hairs-breadth from stepping back into power by hood or by crook as defenders of democracy?
TokyoLiving
Kishi Kun, stop giving away the dignity of Japan..
Hideomi Kuze
"alliance" that US has let to Japan buy weapons with 2 or 3 times prices of when US Forces buy.
deanzaZZR
Factually incorrect. Sovereignty has yet to be determined for Senkaku/Diaoyutai.
China's military vessels into Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea
Biden is kicking the American Military Empire into top gear. Kishida obviously is along for the ride. How about the Saito, Suzuki and Yamaguchis you bump into on the street?
cenobite
Kishida is Joe’s Man in Japan
nosuke
Mr POTEOJ (president of the empire of japan ) Kishida cares only about spending your tax going on a worldwid trip in the name of war to be on camera daily with a photo shoot i mean look at the dudes smile while all of us here in Tokyo suffering from the food price hikes excluding the rich guys.
commanteer
Two puppets meeting to advance the agenda of god knows who.

Kishida is awful
Blacklabel
did he?
Blacklabel
yeah that’s we want in Japan, huh?
Peter14
So many people bagging the PM for visiting nations of the G7. He is doing his job, and in the process arranging trade meetings, defense agreements, and all the important things you do on these trips and yes they have a few hours of down time visiting things the host wants to show off. He is not a robot, he is human.
He is rubbished when at home and abroad. Imagine what he might be able to do if all this negativity disappeared and people tried supporting him for a while. Surprising things might happen.

So, in the last week, Kishida has met two oligarchs, one open fascist and... Biden, to talk about "security". Security from what and for whom again?
Samit Basu
What Biden is asking from Kishida is this; will Japan grant the US an advance consent to let the US launch military intervention from Okinawa on the day of the Chinese invasion of Taiwan?
The current official Japanese position is no, which ensures Tokyo is safe from Chinese ballistic missile strikes but Taiwan is lost in a week.
If Kishida says yes, that makes Japan a direct combatant in Taiwan conflict and it becomes legal for China to launch thousands of ballistic missiles at Tokyo, and Japan loses at least 40% of its fighter jets and surface warships as the result of being a direct combatant.
So what is Kishida's answer going to be?
Blacklabel
“Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s visit with President Biden is aimed at selling Tokyo as the linchpin of eastern security and a bulwark against Chinese and North Korean aggression. “
= we are ok to host a proxy war too? Bulwark? Linchpin?

It really is sad how much hate some folks can have for another person.
Hopefully the meeting between Kishida and Biden will be a fruitful one.
stormcrow
“Honor every threat.”
Blacklabel
“Ukraine: Europe’s Linchpin”
“robust support for Ukraine’s democratic development so that the country doesn’t just survive this war but becomes even stronger as a bulwark of trans-Atlantic security”
so Japan becomes to China and North Korea as Ukraine is to Russia? A security buffer for the West. How sad.
Cards fan
That's not what that quote means, nor is it the west's fault Russia invaded Ukraine. Pathetic.
Blacklabel
Ukraine becomes a bulwark. Is a linchpin. Exactly the 2 words used by Kishida
Peter14
One huge difference is all the US troops station in Japan that will defend it. Ukraine had no US or Western troops to help defend it. If Japan gets in a conflict it will be far from alone.
Blacklabel
Absolutely it is. They were their linchpin and bulwark for that exact purpose. So that it didn’t happen to the west.
which is what Kishida is now proposing Japan be as it relates to China and NK.
I don’t want Japan being the linchpin and bulwark for the West.
do you? Does anyone?
Cards fan
lol No it's not. The reason Ukraine was invaded is because Russia decided to do so.
lol No, the reason it "couldn't happen" is thanks to NATO. Unfortunately for Ukraine, they're not in NATO. Yet :D
I think this is pretty disingenuous framing.
Blacklabel
Talk to Kishida. It’s his words and exactly what he offered Japan to be for America against NK and China.
Cards fan
No, I mean the way you framed this, the way you claimed Ukraine being invaded was the west's fault, and not Russia's fault, and the way you tried to draw up a comparison between Ukraine and Japan is disingenuous.
Blacklabel
Ukraine is in this position only because they also willingly offered to be a linchpin and a bulwark.
Same as Kishida is offering now. Should he be offering that, seeing what it caused Ukraine to have to endure?
Cards fan
Again, no. This is nonsense. Ukraine got invaded because Russia chose to, and only because Russia chose to.
"Choosing to be a linchpin or bulwark" just to be invaded makes no logical sense.
Or maybe you should ask yourself why on earth a Japanese politician is trying to sacrifice the entire country for the US? It's nonsense.
Tamarama
There's people on here that bag everything about Japan. ****Everything. And have been doing so for years on this forum.
Japan has to take its security seriously in the face of two of the most bizarre, childish and disconnected leadership regimes in history, in China and North Korea. As they evolve and strengthen, Japan is right to be wary.
I could clearly envisage reading the JT forums as China attacks Japan, or North Korean missiles land on Hoshu and read the same bleating hearts attack the government for not taking the threat sensibly, or taking adequate measures to defend itself.
kurisupisu
No wonder Biden has a never ending rictus grin on his face with all the massive amounts of money going to US armaments manufacturers!
Bankrupt Japan and their impoverished citizens can’t afford to pay but The BOJ is buying JGBs with trillions of yen (weekly) that it conjures up on a computer screen.
There’s no hope of ever paying this debt.
Meanwhile extremely dire economic conditions are seeing the population plummet by the hundreds of thousands per year and immigration is now even less of a probability.
What about the elderly Japanese?
The elderly are receiving substandard care in nursing homes due to there being a dire lack of staff to care for them.
What happens when people are not moved for hours and are left to stay in one place in bed?
Its not a pretty sight!
Japan is not a very cool place to be if one is Japanese…
Fredrik
Space exploration?
Nope, just a revival of the cold war era space race and nuclear arms race.
Anyone want to go back to that era? Wasn't Kishida supposed to be against the nuclear arms race?
Rodney
USA next proxy war will be in Japan and Taiwan. I am seriously thinking of selling my house and moving. We have only about one to two years before war breaks out. Our tax money for defense just doubled and now even the UK, has military rights over Japan’s sovereign lands.
WiseOneIn Kansai
@Rodney
Defense spending has doubled because the neighborhood bully is causing trouble in the region.
If china was a good neighbor, there would be peace and tranquility within the region.
I laugh at your predictions and assumptions!! Just sell your home and go back to the middle kingdom.

The relocation of USMC Air Station Futenma to Henoko may be a case in point. It was promised to be returned 27 years ago in 1996, but that promise has not been realized as yet. Why?
Some posters attribute that to the local people, but I assume the fault rests with insincere U.S. policy making.
Yrral
Biden has no business in meddling in criminal activities of criminal cases
Samit Basu
@Awa no Gaijin
They are all safe from Chinese ballistic missile strikes as long as Japan keeps its neutrality, which includes forbidding the US from using Okinawa as a the base of operation for intervention.
As soon as Japan allows the US to launch intervention from Okinawa, Japan has become a direct combatant(providing the base of operation constitutes war participation), it becomes legal for China to attack Japan, and thousands of ballistic missiles will rain down on Japan's major cities.
Given the sheer number of ballistic missiles on hand, China doesn't need to preemptively attack Japan, just wait until Japan takes part in the war.
Hercolobus
Sell fear, sell weapons like hot cakes.

Peter14,what is your country gonna do to defend you,the American people do not expect our troops to even defend us ,why do you need them to defend you
Temyong
No one should trust and depend on the US anymore because the US govt is the one destroying America to pave the way for the New World Order. This one world govt agenda will not be possible if we have a world superpower like the US. That is why the Biden regime is allowing millions of illegals into the US, depleting its energy and military supplies, decimating its own armed forces and citizens by the killer shot, and destroying businesses and farms, raising inflation, disrupting supplies, etc. so that it will implode from within. The US is so big for an invasion and most of its citizens are armed so the only way to destroy it is from within.

Sad to say, but without having any sharp thorns sticking out, what else is there to keep nasty predators away?

Ukraine chose to let itself be invaded, if we are going to follow your logic.
Yeah--nonsense for sure.
