Nonsense. This article is getting republished allover to relieve the currently building pressure on China to act. The fact remains that back in 2003 when NK walked out of talks China stopped providing them with oil. NK returned to the table in THREE days. When China which currently provides 90% of NK's energy acts to stop NK's continuing nuclear and missile program then the world will believe whether China has influence over NK or not.

The CCP has been propping up a series of hereditary dictators in North Korea for their own, self-serving purposes. By continuing to support North Korea, the CCP is responsible for NK's nuclear insanity and whatever comes from it. It is not a matter of frayed relations; the CCP is again putting its own, tyranical interests above all else, as usual.

With the West showing an exceptionally weak response to the NK nuclear threat China will become emboldened over its ambitions in the South China Sea. After all, this is not about NK but how far the West can be pushed before we risk upsetting China.

This may be the only solution to the DPRK mess.

The CCP is terrified of containment. They don't want to take over the world, but they do want the ability to continue to influence their neighbors without being hemmed in by the US.

So what we need is a way to convince China that if they act definitively to rein in NK, the US won't exploit the chaos to get an advantage. A savvy diplomat could arrange an aggreement with China wherein they act under an implicit promise that the US will not try to change the status quo of our relationship. It would require incredible levels of trust.

Unfortunately, the US's President is notoriously deceptive, untrustworthy, and willing to throw former allies under a bus for even the smallest temporary advantage. So I don't see any kind of good faith agreement as even possible.

This is one of those situations where America's desire to feel tough actually undermines its ability press an advantage.

Trump just threw the GOP under the bus and made a deal with the Dems. Or did this not make it into the bubble?

That hardly makes him trustworthy. It's actually more evidence for my complaint- Trump will throw anyone under the bus at a moment's notice. Why should Chinese leaders trust his administration when his own party can't even trust him?

This sounds like a propaganda piece designed to take China off the hook for sitting back while their closest ally threatens nuclear destruction. No one will ever forget or forgive the despicable treachery of China to the global system and you can be sure the consequences will be dire for them

Exactly. You can find this same article in a number of news sites. China doing their "information war" thing as usual.

You just had them threatened yourselves, though. Be it an individual or a political entity, hypocrisy runs deep and deeper it goes.

Another news. His wife is not shown. She is pregnant. They have two children. So this will be his third.
