CCP is bad news. Always will be. Sad to be so untrustowrthy. What a solid reputation to have.

20 ( +25 / -5 )

Chinese Ambassador to Japan Kong Xuanyou on Tuesday criticized the Quad grouping comprising the United States, Japan, India and Australia as representing a "Cold War mentality" and "100 percent outdated."

Screw him and his filthy genocidal party

26 ( +29 / -3 )

The ambassador, however, defended China's military buildup, saying it is necessary to address the increasingly severe security environment surrounding the country

Increasingly severe?? Admittedly the late 1940s and the 1950s there was a severe security environment surrounding China including in the Taiwan Straits. But the 1960s to the 2020s? The only thing that has become "increasingly severe" is the PRC's unstoppable buildup of offensive capabilities it does not require.

the Japan-U.S. alliance "must not undermine the interests of a third country."

Hmm. Indeed, some would say the relative strategic military superiority of the US and its allies in the Pacific has now diminished to the extent that the imbalance is now starting to threaten the interests of a number of parliamentary democracies, which typically have thriving economies.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

By peaceful means = economic blackmail

24 ( +24 / -0 )

He is of course correct. China is Japan's No.1 trading partner by some distance and is rapidly pulling further ahead of any other major economies. It's time for the Japanese regime to put Japan first. No need to be allied with China against the bandits and fascists of Anglo-American imperialism but being neutral is a no-brainer. I know Japan is an occupied country but this presents a perfect opportunity to kick out of the occupation forces. Tell them to go within a month or Japan will start making moves for an alliance with China.

I understand when Japan sold so much to USA it made the occupation palpable but now China buys far more.

-26 ( +3 / -29 )

The only reason Quad is outdated is because there is no Taiwan in it. Include Taiwan, make it a 'Pentad' and sign a collective defense pact which would make it an obligation for all 5 countries to respond collectively in case any one of them comes under attack from the commies.

21 ( +24 / -3 )

The Chinese envoy declaring the New State of the World. Or one might say 'dictating it'. The Middle Kingdom.

Chinese military build-up. No one is going to invade China.

The USA, essentially funded the rise of China with its offshoring and absurd notion to sell every Chinaman a bottle of beer. Which as someone pointed out would use the entire world grain crop.

As for Japan. it's corporate & finance entities went global many moons ago and no longer are tied to the domestic economy. And as a client state of the USA, functioning as its military outpost on the flank of China & all of Asia, renders its independence moot. But. China and India are the future, not the decrepit and dangerous American Empire. None-the-less, look to what the dependence on Chinese tourism did to Japan over the past year - besides dumping SARSCoV-2 among the population.

China is an autocratic, totalitarian state. With a culture that devours any and all in its path. In its current manifestation, an emerging danger to the world & planet, along with its counterpart, the USA.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

China is outdated.

22 ( +25 / -3 )

A welcomed action long overdue. It's time for even more countries to stand up against the PRC and the Chicoms.

18 ( +20 / -2 )

It is not our policy to change (the status quo) by force.

China wants to resolve the issue through peaceful means, he said.

Translated, that means "by hook or by crook".

15 ( +16 / -1 )

China is just mad because no wants to add them because smart countries do not trust them or the government. It makes them look weak in the eyes of their people. That is what the CCP fears the most.

Add Taiwan to this "Quad Grouping"! That would definitely twist the dagger!

Besides, the CCP can have its "Quad Grouping" with Russia, Myanmar, North Korea, and Russia.

However, those countries do not give China money, nor is it easy to spy on them.

19 ( +21 / -2 )

"I know Japan is an occupied country but this presents a perfect opportunity to kick out of the occupation forces. Tell them to go within a month or Japan will start making moves for an alliance with China. "

Paul, the Japanese people have tried to get the occupier out by using every democratic system they could find. It is never going to happen. America has never left a place it has occupied. It has no respect for democracy until it suits it to do so.

Your comment was well written BTW.

God to see there is still some people about that are capable of critical thinking.

-21 ( +3 / -24 )

OK, democracy. USA built on slavery and invasions. India, a caste based society. Australia, don’t mention Aborigines. Japan, anybody want a comfort woman?

what is great about this “club”?

almost all roads, schools, hospitals in SE Asia are build or funded by...China.

-20 ( +3 / -23 )

When you say democracy, are you talking about the democracy like the US of Terror? You know the place, America.. The place that commits war crimes and human suffering all over the world. The same place that still occupies Japan, as well as other countries, and doesn't leave when asked. You know the place, yes? They have massive poverty, tent cities, their infrastructure is failing on a daily basis and they use "democracy" in the UN so Israel can continue it's genocide there.. Oh, let's not leave out their murderous genocide currently playing out in Yemen either.. How absolutely democratic.

Yes those evil Chinese.

They attacked and occupied Japan, using nuclear weapons on the civilian population no less. Then they killed 1.4million Iraqis in their illegal "shock and awe" war. They have killed millions more in Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Venezuela and on and on those Chinese go..

Yeah, I know who's country I would want to do business with..

There is a name for hostages that fall in love with their captors..

Anyone here know what that is? I do not want to be the one that states the obvious.

Is that better moderators?

Goodlucktoyou....

Do not forget South America and Africa.. They too benefit from a relationship with China.

While the US and her sycophantic lapdogs go about world stealing resources and causing death and murder, the Chinese knock on the front door and strike up mutual agreements..

Capitalist countries don't like to see a successful socialist country, period.. That is why China is a threat and in your words, not trusted.

I mean who could trust a country that has zero poverty, high home ownership, happy citizens and a hugely popular government, right?

Good that you got all of the American allies, other than Israel, Saudi Arabia and a couple of other despot countries but you, for China's four, left out most of Africa and South America.

-19 ( +3 / -22 )

"100 percent outdated." 100% don’t care what China thinks. China is a malignant, aggressive imperialist force in current geopolitics.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

Dear CCP,

You know what else is outdated? ? ?

Your Communist party!

Communism has already failed in it's birth place called USSR. It also failed in dozens and dozens of other countries who got tired of this Outdated system.

Is not even Asian or Chinese. It's a Jewish idea and invention to take Russia out of WW1.

18 ( +20 / -2 )

What's 'Outdated" is a dictatorship with a ruler for life that uses it's military and economic power to expand it's global influence and territorial expansion, and nationalism to keep it's populace under control. Fascist regimes that fought wars with multiple adversaries in the past have all been destroyed. China continues to show the world that it has learned nothing from history.

China could show Japan that it is sincere by declaring the Senkakus to be Japanese territory and retract all claims to them. Bet that won't happen. lol

14 ( +17 / -3 )

It’s true though. The international relations version of the movie Mean Girls.

Democratizing countries and converting them itself is not democratic.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Quite an open call to change sides...lol No, thanks. Japan has to get up on its own feet, meant step by step and on a midterm time scale. It’s clear that in a farther future it cannot completely rely on the US, because they are already under internal dissolution there and have too much pressure inside and incoming one from the southern boarder. But becoming a devote ally to China also isn’t an option, of course that would be even worse. An own way of strength and self-sufficiency must be found and walked on, the sooner the better.

C - Communist

H - Hypocrisy

I - Is

N - Not

A - Allowed

Communism is outdated. Quad is an alliance of thought and actions by like minded free nations and is completely relevant in today's environment.

The cold war has come and gone and it was won by the west. Communism in eastern Europe fell.

China keeps mentioning "cold war mentality" as if it was negative, but to the west since they won the cold war it was considered effective.

For a nation basing erroneous claims on dubious internal "ancient information" to cast aspersions on anyone else using more recent modern information from the cold war is laughable and the height of hypocrisy.

China is on a dead end path, it needs to wise up and dump the freedom ending communist system it currently endures.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

It’s like a bully telling someone who they can be friends with.

To him I say the Quad is doing what “is necessary to address the increasingly severe security environment surrounding the region and there is "no scenario (we) would give up" bolstering our armed forces/regional cooperation/exercises.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Communist China can just shut it. No one listens to a word they say.

QUAD is the replica of NATO in Asia. It stands for democracy and freedom, and against communism and totalitarianism. QUAD will be even stronger than NATO within 10 years. China is terrified of this - they will no longer be able to bully smaller nations and steal territory without severe repercussions.

I look forward to QUAD expanding to include Taiwan, and down the track when they have beefed up their Militaries, and become fully democratic, Thailand and Vietnam. Hopefully within 10-20 years.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

It is a shame that the PRC has become increasingly belligerent to its neighbors. No one wants to spend money on self-defense, but what alternative is there?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I mean who could trust a country that has zero poverty, high home ownership, happy citizens and a hugely popular government, right?

Doesn’t sound like the China I lived in at all!

Zero poverty? Happy Citizens? Hugely popular government? Home ownership is quite high, even if it’s for reasons that are much different from other countries I’ll agree to that one. I guess 1 out of 4 isn’t so bad when talking about the CCP.

The “army” is out in mass today! lol

9 ( +9 / -0 )

"I mean who could trust a country that has zero poverty"

I have seen a lot her but this one takes the biscuit.

"About a quarter of China's population is in poverty, according to this metric. For comparison, this is slightly higher than Brazil."

"And there is widespread income inequality. Last year, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said China still had 600 million people whose monthly income was barely 1,000 yuan ($154). He said that was not enough to rent a room in a city."

LOL.. Using the BBC.. Please..

Poverty and poor are two different things.. Extreme poverty gone. Yes it is!

The IMF defines extreme poverty.. The BBC defines the ability to lie straight faced..

Guys, this takes two seconds to find.

And how come people think China is still communist some 30 years after they went socialist?

Surely this cannot be the most uninformed group of people on the planet?

Does no-one read anymore?

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

"Poverty and poor are two different things.. Extreme poverty gone. Yes it is!"

Explaining the obvious?

Thanks but no thanks.

Nobody was talking about "extreme poverty". You did in an attempt to switch to your "advantage"

"I mean who could trust a country that has zero poverty"

This is/was the content of the original sentence quoted above and on my post you're trying to mess up.

I didn't make it.

And BBC or no BBC the World Bank says practically the same thing.

"These estimates thus suggest that only about 1 percent of China's population is currently in extreme poverty. Notwithstanding this tremendous success, the central thesis of this report is that the task of poverty reduction in many ways continues and in some respects has become more demanding."

"https://documents.worldbank.org/en/publication/documents-reports/documentdetail/816851468219918783/china-from-poor-areas-to-poor-people-chinas-evolving-poverty-reduction-agenda-an-assessment-of-poverty-and-inequality"

The Chinese are funny. CCP - Chinese Comedy Party. Only their raw aggression is anything but funny. Quad outdated? Um, it was formed precisely because China is trying to take other nation's islands and asserts that still more islands owned by other nations are occupied Chinese land. On top of that China claims they somehow have sovereign rights over international waters. I would say the Quad is based in the present and remains valid as long as China asserts that other nation's sovereign territory belongs to them.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The CCP and their mentality is 100% outdated …. It’s not the 50’s seriously

4 ( +6 / -2 )

China wants to divide and conquer. That makes it easier for centrally, managed, huge, economies to get their way. The fact that others didn't do it seems like a clear mistake to the CCP-Chinese. It is a way to keep control of foreign and local people in the hands of just a few.

The only way to have successful, peaceful, confrontation with China is by having their main trading partners work together to clearly convey inappropriate actions.

Because Chinese keeps some of their people in poverty, they suppress the labor market, keep other wages lower, which keeps domestic costs lower and makes other countries think they can get lower costs by outsourcing certain manufacturing to China. In the last 30 yrs, China has damaged their ecology 3x faster than other countries. They've only begun to realize how much damage has been caused from the lack in environmental protections. As more Chinese get more wealth, they will demand changes - or leave. The trick is to get out of the CCP control - as much of the family as possible. Don't leave anyone behind, unless providing a family hostage is ok.

Ask anyone who recently got out who was Uyghur or a democratic activist in Hong Kong. Leave nobody behind.

It is going to take a while but Xi Jinping and his wolf warrior "diplomats" combined with increasing internal oppression are going to make investing in China increasingly unattractive. Think about it. Ten years ago nobody would think twice about vacationing in China or setting up a factory there. It was the thing to do and the government was highly welcoming. Today do you think any western firm looking to locate a new factory abroad, especially one who has no current exposure to China, is going to set up a greenfield operation there? Do you not think that firms are going to have a hard time staffing a Chinese factory or business office with western management? China has become kind of a scary place to go. You might not be allowed to leave. The government surveilles everything and has zero respect for western concepts of personal privacy. Plus they are not shy about stealing from everyone whatever they want, even in your home country with their government sponsored cyber theft operation. It will take a while but China is killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Combine decreasing interest in doing business with the Chinese with their demographic problems and soon the source of the Yellow River drying up as the glaciers that feed it retreat (supposed to be completely gone in ten years) and the Dragon is going to have a hard time finding any partners to do business with.

China goes from strength to strength, while its enemies go from delusion to insanity.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

China goes from strength to strength, while its enemies go from delusion to insanity.

China goes from one self inflicted crisis to another self inflicted crisis while the west just waits out the coming Chinese implosion as its growing middle class demand more freedom or leave the country taking their new wealth with them to a safer more free nation that has no extradition treaty with China.

All nations with a desire for global dominance without freedom to dissent, have short futures. China is about to understand this intimately.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

China goes from strength to strength, while its enemies go from delusion to insanity.

You have no idea how much frustration is building inside China or how much the average Chinese distrusts any level of government there. China is a pressure cooker with a plugged pressure relief valve. And it isn't going to get better. By declaring himself ruler for life he has cut off any possibility of advancement for legions of CCP rank and file who rely on their patrons advancing within the party for them to advance. Xi has stopped advancement and sent many of their patrons to jail. To keep a lid on dissent he has to employ increasingly harsh internal repression measures. He has created enemies among the Uyghur and more recently picked a completely unnecessary fight with Inner Mongolia. Small and medium sized businesses are cut off from bank loans (while the banks are forced to lend to money losing state owned enterprises) and Xi has cut off their access to private lending which is what those small businesses have relied on for decades. Probably the stupidest thing Xi did from a business standpoint was to attack Jack Ma. Jack Ma has a compelling personal history, truly a self made man who overcame many obstacles to reach his position in the world. But the CCP has shown it can strip anybody of their wealth and force them to leave the very company they built as they are currently leaning on the Ant BOD to force Jack Ma out completely. Anyone with money and a business empire in China now knows the state can take it all away at a moments notice with no due process and no appeal. That will deter entreprenuers from risking their wealth in China. They will ply their trade in nations whos laws protect their wealth and business property. I am of the opinion that the CCPs acts against Ant and Jack Ma are going to prove to be a watershed moment in China's development. Smart people with ambition will go somewhere else. Meanwhile the average working person in China isn't happy with their lot in life and their government just keeps making life harder with ever more repressive measures politically socially and financially, with mandatory party indoctrination sessions and other crap people have no patience for. Absent the ability to affect change through elections the unhappiness and the pressure builds and builds.
